DH licking his plate every dinner time

AIBU to be annoyed by it?

Nearly every time we eat something, he licks the plate clean like a bloody dog.

Long, big licks up the plate.

I cannot stand it! It doesn't gross me out, I just find it so outlandishly lacking in class Envy

AIBU? He says he's just enjoying his dinner, every bit of it.

Plates, not olates... Licking olates is just inexcusable.

Also, let people enjoy fiods; like fiords, but shorter. Wink

UserV · 25/05/2018 20:34

Won't even go in to the amount he passes wind Envy

Thought so somehow.

pallisers · 25/05/2018 20:38

but why do people get so outraged by petty stuff people do thats a bit slobby in the privacy of their own homes?

I'm not outraged. Just wouldn't want to live with someone who licked his plate in front of me after every meal - long big licks up the plate like a dog. If I saw someone doing it in public I'd say to myself "at least I don't have to go home with him" And I'd be a bit concerned if plate-licking was necessary for his relaxation.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 25/05/2018 20:40

Does he slurp hot drinks?

4yoniD · 25/05/2018 20:43

robot not just you Grin I also "wee in the shower, lick your plate, hang the washing out in your nightie" onesie (I did get unwanted comments from a neighbor who saw me in my nightie, hence the onesie now)

NameyMcNamechangeface · 25/05/2018 20:43

If he's cooking food that is so delicious that he wants to lick the last delicous trace from the plate, then what on earth is the problem? Confused Let the man enjoy his food in his own home! I occasionally lick my plate at home - it's the sign of a REALLY good meal

Oh hi @Allabout's husband! Decided to join us did ya? Grin

Moonkissedlegs · 25/05/2018 20:47

I have loooooowwwwwww standards and even I think a fully grown man licking his plate is pretty grim.

robotcartrainhat · 25/05/2018 20:48

Lets hope we dont live on the same street... we would bring the house prices down!
I walked to the corner shop with wet hair the other day... Civilisation is in tatters

ConciseandNice · 25/05/2018 20:51

This is gross. My ex used to do this. My hubby now is a right caveman but even he doesn’t do plate licking. LTB.

Foodylicious · 25/05/2018 20:53

Curious as to how he became your DH!??!!!
Was this something he hid till after? Wink

corcaithecat · 25/05/2018 20:55

I always lick my plate after a cooked brekkie with beans and runny egg. Rarely do it for other meals and only at home.
DH hates me doing it.
I hate him taking a book into the loo with him, so that makes us quits. Smile

woodywoo2 · 25/05/2018 21:06

Its absolutely disgusting!

Notmorewashing · 25/05/2018 21:08

Foul

TheAntiBoop · 25/05/2018 21:12

Isn't that what baguette is for?

ineedabagformyhippo · 25/05/2018 21:16

That's grim and really unattractive!

Fairylea · 25/05/2018 21:17

That would drive me crazy. Disgusting.

lollypop13 · 25/05/2018 21:22

Fucking hell. DH would be in the garden if he did that.

LighthouseSouth · 25/05/2018 21:22

That's revolting
And weirdly desperate
He's not starving.

Birdshitbridgegotme · 25/05/2018 21:25

I did this as a child! Makes me feel sick thinking about it now!!

BuffyTheMLMHunter · 25/05/2018 21:28

I wouldn't mind it at all if it's at home and not in public. I'd be chuffed if my cooking elicited that kind of response, unfortunately DH only ever seems to lick his plate when BIL's wife cooks!

Gardai · 25/05/2018 21:29

I think you must be joking op - I can't imagine anyone marrying a man who licks his plate.
I shall go and adjust my Victorian bonnet now.

GalwayWayfarer · 25/05/2018 21:30

Eeeergh that's grim. I'd be drawing a swift red line under that tbh

KarmaStar · 25/05/2018 21:32

They do those dog food bowls with shapes in to make the dinner last longer (stops the dog eating too fast too)put his dinner in that!😂

SilverySurfer · 25/05/2018 21:32

So unlike the home life of our own dear Queen.

It's revolting but I suppose it saves on washing up Grin
