To be scared of this pain? :(

Can you reassure me please? I’m getting quite anxious about the pain I’m having in my head and it’s very unlike me.

This last week I have been experiencing a recurring and quite bad pain in my head. It’s a sudden throb that gets quite badly and is in the same place, it feels almost like a “crack” because it’s a sort of single line of acute pain in a particular area of my skull rather than a dull, all over or behind the eyes pain. It’s near and above my right temple.

I’ve never suffered from headaches or migraines before and I’m freaking out a bit. Can someone talk me down and tell me it’s normal? Can it just be sinus related as my little ones have blocked noses Confused

I’m 24, I’ve recently gone back to work from mat leave so have been looking at computer screens a lot, been off contraception for about a month. Just in case any of those could be caused.

I’ve tried to google but it’s bringing up some really scary things and I can’t keep reading them Blush

I get ice pick headaches. It's literally like someone stabs you in the back of a head with an ice pick, lasts a few seconds and then disappears. Does it feel like that?

SilverDoe · 25/05/2018 22:14

unintentionalthreadkiller yes that’s exactly it! It’s persistent in that it keeps happening today but it only lasts for a few seconds at a time.

I am definitely going to the GP, but mainly to address my anxiety. I’ve suffered when younger and have never got help or anything, and I think as I’m getting older it’s time to address it properly. I’ve never ever had anxiety about my health before though.

Def go to the gp but it's very very very very rarely anything to be worried about but terrifying at the time. Mine were linked to a gay ever nasal steroid. Took a long time to figure it out though.

I've also developed health anxiety - after children - and thought I had a brain tumour!

Sorry to keep adding, if it ice pick headaches, clusters are quite normal for a few hours or days or if you're really unlucky, longer.

Thank you, I feel so much better now :)

I’ve only been back at work properly for 2 weeks so I am thinking an eye test for the physical stuff and the gp for the rest :)
