It’s supposed to be bitchy resting face FFS. Resting bitch face makes no bloody sense.

My resting face is mardy. My mum had a resting face which was smiley.

No it’s just the general public getting their words mixed up as usual when repeating a joke.

It does make sense. Resting bitch face = a bitchy girls face when you are resting. Where as a real bitch has that face always.

You’re so right, it started out as bitchy resting face then somewhere along the line got turned into resting bitch face.
It think ‘bitch face’ sounds too harsh

Bitchy resting face = a resting face that looks bitchy.

Resting bitch face = a bitchy face that is resting.

In the first statement, the face could be all sorts of things, but when resting it looks bitchy.

In the second statement, the face always looks bitchy but happens to be resting.

The first statement is therefore correct.

However it is the second statement that is now in common usage.

This drives me nuts as well. Of course it's bitchy resting face. As in someone's resting face (the face when they aren't actively doing something) has a bitchy expression. Resting bitch face means the resting face of a person who is a bitch.

So one could have a grumpy thinking face. The face they make when they're thinking looks grumpy. But a thinking grump face would be the face a grumpy person makes when they're thinking.
