To feel sad about losing my copy of The Outsiders

Just realised that somewhere in my many moves in years gone by I have lost my beloved copy of The Outsiders by SE Hinton. It was my favourite novel for many years growing up and I feel sadder than I should that I can't find it.

Did this book influence anyone else's teenage years?

I love this book so much I recently bought a copy for my pre-teen DD. She has so far refused to read it, on the grounds that if I love it, it must be really lame!
The joke will be on her when she finally does pick it up any she’s what she’s been missing out on!

DD (12) read it and liked it a lot. Just didn't LOVE it. Felt a bit sad about that. Having said that she doesn't read nearly as much as I did and her life is a lot more interesting and exciting so maybe she's just not as interested living vicariously through books....

Saw the film, developed huge crush on Ralph Macchio, bought book and loved it. Stay gold.

I still have my copy. My stolen copy. Blush

I was in primary school and my oldest sister brought it home as they were reading it in English at high school. I'd read anything I could get my hands on back then so nabbed it to read (every intention of returning it!) but loved it so much I kept it.

I even read The Outsiders fanfic. Grin
