To be pissed off that MIL wants to play it by ear

The 'it' being whether she, FIL and BIL are coming for Sunday lunch or not. She wants to wait and see what BIL fancies doing - if he wants to go out for the day we will all do that instead. But if he wants to come to our house they will. So I am supposed to shop for Sunday lunch for EIGHT without knowing if I am actually going to cook it or not. So am I being unreasonable in being slightly pissed off?

insist you all go out i they're going to be sketchy!
if you have to get together on sunday suggest that if they can't pull their finger out and decide, it'd be easier for you not to shop and let them pick up the tab at a restaurant!!

You're lucky, there are two goldenboys in our family, my brother who we see once a year, gets his dinner paid for even though he's always late (single etc)and is still worshipped, and the bil I mentioned earlier. Edam's thought was interesting though, is this something we need to think about as parents ourselves? I hope whatever you choose to do, and lets face it telling them where to go is easier said than done, you have a good weekend.

Thanks for the support. Apparently we are meeting at the beach cafe for lunch and then they are coming back to ours for tea. DD3 and I have baked a chocolate cake while the others were watching Dr Who. And DH and I have spent the whole bloody day cleaning the house in between ferrying the children to their various activities. So I am officially a GOOD DIL now, whatever MIL thinks!
