To leave work on time?!!

I find working full time (9-5:30) quite hard, I feel tired and restricted, which is why I can't wait for the clock to strike 5:30 and I can walk out the office, drive home, eat dinner and relax....

But the problem is, no one ever leaves at 5:30 Confused I look around and everyone is still working while I walk out the door, I even get a few judgemental looks from colleagues. I'm usually the first one out, if not I'm one of the first.

Does it look bad to leave work on time? Obviously if I had something urgent to do I would finish it, but I don't want to stay just to look good. I already get home about 6:20pm depending on traffic and not keen to have an even longer day....

Still no response on the staff retention rate at an organisation where employees are clearly not trusted.

CalF123 · 25/05/2018 20:24

@ilovesooty

Our staff retention rate is about average for the sector. Our salaries are competitive, and I think a lot of staff enjoy the structure and focus we provide within the organisation. We have 2 employees who've been with us for 15 years each.

They enjoy being treated like cattle?

I think I've heard it all now.

Deprivation of liberty breaches Article 5 of the ECHR unless certain conditions are met

The country might not be part of the EU

The country might not be part of the EU

Doesn’t need to be to have signed up to the ECHR

Oliversmumsarmy · 26/05/2018 23:28

Just because a country signs up doesn't mean it is scrupulous on up holding human rights

+It's primarily locked to prevent staff making sneaky trips to local coffee shops etc during work hours. It also ensures that all staff are working their full hours with no leaving early or returning late at lunchtime or home time.*

Have you ever tried trusting them?

I stick to office hours cos of childcare. Couldn't give a shit what people think.

Pre-kids I'd work late, never got thanks for it and had a terrible work life balance.

I hate getting round robin emails at 10pm from colleagues - it's a crap example to set more junior colleagues and just makes me think "get a life".

I work in an office doing run of the mill stuff, not life saving surgery or publishing newspapers. People need to get a grip.
