GP - I don't have an answer for you (possible TMI)

Went to see the GP today for the following:

  • heavy yellow discharge - loads of it
  • general on and off pain of the whole "area" when sitting, washing etc
  • pain from urethra when urinating
  • last 2 periods (on the pill) have been horrifically heavy
  • pain during sex
  • bleeding after sex
  • bleeding mid month
  • cramps throughout the whole month On and off
  • on occasional days where discharge doesn't require me changing a panty liner 3 times a day - it feels uncomfortably dry even to walk
  • extreme night we, wake up every night soaked thriugh despite DP claiming the bedroom is freezing with the window open (And I'm normally a cold person)

Think that's all of it...

Had swabs done for STI, BV, thrush etc... all came back clear.

GP had a brief look with a speculum and said it didn't look like there was anything wrong with my cervix and there doesn't seem to be an answer for my problems.

AIBU to think that's not good enough?? My next smear isn't due until 2020 but around 18 months ago I had LLETZ to remove CIN3 cells, subsequent smear came back okay.

I feel like they should be doing a more through examination/early smear or something. None of this is normal for my body and has only appeared over the last 2 months or so. I'm only 27 and don't want all these problems forever ☹ it's killed my sex drive and I feel so unsexy not to mention uncomfortable

Please get checked for endometriosis and ovarian cysts

SecretStash · 22/05/2018 20:49

Early menopause is sprinting to mind I must admit.

Hideandgo · 22/05/2018 20:52

Just to check, your last smear was in the UK?

GrandTheftWalrus · 22/05/2018 20:58

I would like to know what was wrong with me all those years ago.

I get night sweats as well but I'm on the pill.

Tiredmum100 · 22/05/2018 21:16

You definitely need to be seen again. Go to your local GUM clinic, or see another GP.

Hamandcheesebaguette · 24/05/2018 21:00

Back again... I promise I'm not a hypochondriac nor do I have health anxiety or anything... I've only been to the GP twice in six years!

Now my left boob looks quite a lot bigger than my right. More so than usual (I know everyone has different sized boobs!) And it feels kind of... full when you squeeze/feel it... almost as though it is swollen? Could this be related to all the other issues I have been having?

OP posts:
stopfuckingshoutingatme · 24/05/2018 21:02

Keep looking and try a GUM this is their speciality

Sorry OP sounds grim x

YoYotheclown · 24/05/2018 21:02

It could be hormonal. Have you been to the gp?

Hamandcheesebaguette · 24/05/2018 21:05

I spoke to the female GP who has sent a referral to the gynae unit... they will assess and prioritise based in the information provided and send me an appointment letter so just waiting for that now! The breast issue I just noticed when I was getting changed for bed and kind of shocked me!

OP posts:
purpleorchidwhite · 24/05/2018 21:23

I'd still go to the GUM clinic. They have such a wealth of experience in this area.

You can see a competent doctor quickly/ same day, have all the tests immediately and they will be able to advise and treat.

They will also liaise with Gyne for you.

Follow it up with your Gyne appointment, but don't be waiting weeks to get a second opinion.

YoYotheclown · 24/05/2018 21:25

I think you should make an appointment tomorrow to bee seen urgently . If your breast is swollen it could be a start of infection maybe and may need medication.

Takemetovegas · 25/05/2018 09:55

You need a pelvic ultrasound. Get a gynaecologist referral AND the US. That way you'll have your results for your appt. your GP should not be so dismissive with this.

Hamandcheesebaguette · 26/05/2018 11:15

Oh ffs.

Nothing I can do until the referral letter comes through (I'm I'm Scotland and I don't think the sexual heath clinic in my region covers the range of things GUM clinics do?).

Me and DP just tried to have sex and it ended with me in tears. Sorry for the TMI but it was so... wet down there (completely abnormal for me) that it was horrible. It was dripping out when I stood up, running down my legs etc. This isn't normal for me at all and it wasn't bevause I was so "into" it... even now half an hour it feels like I have wet myself Sad I hope there is an answer and solution from the gynea unit Sad

I'm at the point where I'm considered going private. We are most certainly not well off and don't really have enough spare cash to do so... does anybody have any experience of costs for I suppose a pelvic scan, possibly a colposcopy? And maybe bloods?

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 26/05/2018 16:12

I think you'd be looking at around £500 for a consultation and scan. You really shouldn't have to do this though,Have you looked at NICE guidelines in regards to referral criteria? I think knowing what you are entitled to in terms of referral would be very helpful in moving things forward.

sexnotgender · 26/05/2018 16:36

That sounds horrendous! I have no advice but just want to give you a totally unmumsnetty hug.

DorothyBastard · 26/05/2018 16:46

I’m so sorry you’ve been so let down by the GP. It makes me so mad when doctors are incredibly dismissive about anything like this. If a bloke presented with equivalent symptoms there’s no way the GP would turn him away with “oh sometimes things change and there’s no explanation”.

L238 · 26/05/2018 16:51

Please consider going to the sexual health clinic next week. They are better at assessing causes of vaginal discharge than either gynae or the GP because most large clinics have the ability to look at samples under the microscope straightaway rather than sending swabs to the lab. There are other non STI related causes that could be the culprit here

Alevel · 26/05/2018 16:55

I had similar symptoms and I had an ovarian cyst that had twisted my Fallopian tube. You need more tests and maybe an ultrasound

Hamandcheesebaguette · 06/06/2018 19:18

Finally got my referral letter through! Around a 7 week waiting time for Gynae outpatient clinic in my area.

Had more symptoms now including absolutely ridiculous mood swings, hysterical crying and thinking of stabbing DP because his baby toe touched me.

Oh and to top it off I think I've got worms as well Envy. I am not enjoying life just now.

OP posts:
Hamandcheesebaguette · 06/06/2018 19:24

Oh and further weirdness... my forehead has taken to going bright luminous red after a shower and tuggy hair

OP posts:
BrownTurkey · 06/06/2018 19:31

So sorry you are suffering OP. Do not think you can’t go back to the gp with the new symptoms while waiting for your appointment - you can.

Canwejustrelaxnow · 06/06/2018 19:35

This sounds like a nightmare op! You're definitely not pregnant? I would make another gp appointment and get that scan. I only had to wait 2 weeks for mine. As others have said, go to the gum clinic as you have nothing to lose. Good luck.

RandomWordsStuckTogether · 06/06/2018 19:38

I was just coming on to ask if you were pregnant. I had out of control watery discharge in my first pregnancy. It was just like nothing I’d ever experienced before.

It sounds distressing for you though. Hope you get it sorted.

Hamandcheesebaguette · 06/06/2018 19:42

I've just started my period today so definitely not pregnant!

@brownturkey - really? I have a GP appt on Tuesday that i was going to cancel now I have the referral letter but I do have more symptoms since the last GP appointment.

I'm so miserable just now. In a permenant sulk. Refuse to have sex with DP out of embarassment and now this maybe worms thing has pushed me right over the edge. Where the bloody he'll would I have got them from?! Sulk sulk sulk Sad
