Neighbours kids in garden

Stay in a terrace of 6 houses, each with our own private garden which are fenced in. Have flats behind us and their communal garden is behind our fenced in gardens.

Just came home from work to find 2 of the kids who stay in the flats in our private garden playing basketball using my sons net! I told them to get out of our garden... do parents actually think this appropriate to let their kids into other peoples gardens when they are out? Driving me mad!

Their parents probably didn't know. Have a word with them.

summerjq · 22/05/2018 16:46

@scurryfunge they are third floor flat they can see my garden from all their windows

Put a padlock on any gate/s also help to keep burglars out

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 22/05/2018 16:52

Plant this Pyracanthas at the end of your garden.

scurryfunge · 22/05/2018 16:57

I'd still have a word with the parents though.

summerjq · 22/05/2018 17:24

It's not a gate they've literally climbed my fence to get in (which is 6ft)

Cheeky beggars, what did they say when you chucked them out?

SaltireSaltire · 22/05/2018 17:35

Of course speak to the parents

summerjq · 22/05/2018 17:42

I just opened the back door and told them to get out of our garden which they did. Really strange I'd go mad if I saw my son in someone's private garden!

How odd, they must have seen it from their window and just decided to use it.

Can they see when you are in or out? Car on the drive?

If so, they might do it again.

spookytime · 22/05/2018 17:47

Posted too soon. Meant to add, if so, can you take the basket down when you are out?

Racecardriver · 22/05/2018 17:47

Plant bugenvelia (htf do you spell that) up your fence to stop them from doing it again.

summerjq · 22/05/2018 17:49

We don't have a drive so they wouldn't know if we were in, yeah could take it in I suppose bit of a hassle though

Hisnamesblaine · 22/05/2018 18:10

Plus the damage they could.have done to your fence is enough to make them leave. Cheeky buggers

Chattymummyhere · 22/05/2018 18:15

Cat spikes on the fence. It’s what a house further down has just done on one side to stop the children clambering up.

SaltireSaltire · 22/05/2018 18:52

Anti vandal paint on your fence ~ parents will get brassed off with ruined clothes.

KevinTurvey · 22/05/2018 18:54

CF's

summerjq · 22/05/2018 20:53

I don't want people thinking I'm mad putting spikes up but the vandal paint could be a good idea!!

Singlebutmarried · 22/05/2018 21:13

Razor wire.

clarrylove · 22/05/2018 21:15

So when you told them to leave, did they climb back over the fence again? Surprised they didn't damage it.

GertrudeCB · 22/05/2018 21:17

We had this with ex ndn. She was actually telling her son to climb over and use our swingset. I reported it to the HA who owned the property. She was a right CF !

leighdinglady · 22/05/2018 21:33

Do not put spikes up! They are children ffs. Children might chance it and hurt themselves, which will be awful for them and you, as you'll be liable - occupiers liability. I wrote my dissertation on it

You've caught them now, hopefully that will be enough.

Spiky plants, rose hedge. Buy mature plants.
