To wonder what can possibly be done to eyebrows for £200

Overheard a work colleague yesterday telling another that she’d had her eyebrows done for £200!!! They’re just tiny little strips of hair, what on earth can be done to them that would cost £200? Blimey the world has gone mad!

None of my business what she spends her money on etc etc, I’m just stunned that such a service exists

Tattooed or microbladed?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/05/2018 12:25

microblading and tattooing? Semi permanent tattoo?

Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2018 12:25

Is it that thing where they sort of tattoo the individual hairs on or something? Can't remember what it's called.

I have mine tinted and shaped every month for £16. Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 22/05/2018 12:25

Microblading/shading or semi-permanent brows are probably the answer. And £200 is rather a bargain going from some of the estimates I've come across.

Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2018 12:26

I couldn't believe microblading wasn't permanent. What a swizz.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/05/2018 12:27

Total tangent but microblading always sounds like a sport for people with tiny feet Grin

Mintychoc1 · 22/05/2018 12:30

Micro blading, that was it, that’s what she said. I’ll google it. Like zibbidoo I also thought it sounded like skating for tiny people!!

OK, help me out on this someone, because I’m 50 and eyebrows really weren’t a thing for us when I was young.
Microblading is basically drawing on hairs, having presumably shaved your own off. Why would someone remove hairs, then draw hairs on? Why not just use the ones you already have?

Sounds like mini rollerskating or something

CaptainCabinets · 22/05/2018 12:36

They don’t shave the hairs off Confused

To the best of my knowledge, microblading involves scratching ink into the skin using a tiny scalpel. It can look very nice!

I’d love mine done because I’ve got about 3 hairs Blush

Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2018 12:36

Not a clue, and some of the examples I have Googled don't look great TBF. Not if you are going for the natural look anyway.

I only started getting my eyebrows done the last five years or so, they seemed ok when I was younger.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/05/2018 12:41

Yes microblading is a very fine scalpel making lots of cuts in your skin like fine hairs and filled with ink. Like a tattoo but nowhere near as permanent (thank fuck when you see the state of some people’s “finished” eyebrows!)

Jael003 · 22/05/2018 12:43

I had my brows microbladed, they cost about £200ish. I had very sparse and blonde hairs before (even though I'm dark haired) and hated having to draw them on everyday.

Jael003 · 22/05/2018 12:44

No they dont shave them off, my natural brows are still there, but more hairs are basically drawn on with a scalpel and dies. It's been a year and they need touching up as the colour has faded a bit but they still look pretty decent and very natural.

SleepFreeZone · 22/05/2018 12:47

I’m having mine done on Saturday and paying slightly less than that (which is a bargain!!). Reason being is that I ive recently had a brow lift and eyelid revision. M

Because of this I let my natural eyebrows grow back and they are now like horrible slugs crawling down the sides of my face. I want them reshaped in a shape that’s flattering and that’s probably going to involve adding a few pretend hairs here and there and filling in some gaps/thickening then up. Hopefully it will then stay put for 18 months and I can just pluck a bit and trim them a bit but otherwise ignore them when I put my make up on each morning. That’s the idea anyway. Perhaps I should report back 😜

pigsDOfly · 22/05/2018 12:58

Had a quick google of this and can't say I'm impressed tbh. But I guess the people in the photos weren't going for a natural look and are probably happy to look like they're permanently suprised or have a couple of hairy animals on their forehead.

Perhaps it's just the ones I've seen. I'm sure there must be better examples, well at least I hope so.

FlyingElbows · 22/05/2018 13:01

I wonder if anyone's thought of setting up an eyebrow donation type thing? My mate had hers microbladed because they're really blonde but tbh I could just have given some of mine in donation cause mine make me look like Norman Lamont!

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/05/2018 13:05

I’ve never seen a set of micro bladed brows IRL that look good.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 22/05/2018 13:05

I see your Norman Lamonts and raise you with my Dennis Healeys Grin I get them threaded and am always asked if I want them trimmed as well. Sometimes they don't even ask Hmm

BristolGrrl · 22/05/2018 13:11

Zibbi to be fair, you probably only notice the bad microblading. When it's done properly, you wouldn't even know unless someone told you they'd had it done, you'd just think that they had nice eyebrows. It's like Botox and fillers - the best results are when someone looks youthful and rested, but without any signs of having had work done.

WaitingforToto · 22/05/2018 13:12

I've had mine done, best £250 I've ever spent. They have always been patchy (since I was a kid, not from over-plunking) and now I have to wear zero make up. It's such a relief and I'm grateful every time I see my reflection! Sounds dramatic I know but it really has changed my face!

LeighaJ · 22/05/2018 13:14

Tattooed eyebrows always look so tacky, any amount for them is unreasonable.

MizCracker · 22/05/2018 13:17

I had my (completely bald) brows microbladed and it was more than £300. Worth every penny. Despite drawing them on since my early 20s, I wasn't particularly good at it and they were different every day Grin Now they're the perfect shape and, although it's no replacement for real hair, I can even consider going out without make up.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 22/05/2018 13:33

Good point bristol!

MizCracker · 22/05/2018 13:40

Yep, Bristol is spot on. I can spot badly tattooed brows a mile off (someone I know has them starting at the inside of her nose bridge, following her orbital bones) but when they're well done they're great.

Here's a photo from the salon I went to.
