AIBU - delayed flight toddler refreshments

Just got back from holiday with dh and dd (18mths). Paid £20 each way for her to sit on my lap.
Outbound easyjet flight was six hours late (left midnight) and return flight was four hours late (left 2am). Barely slept on either night and was very stressful looking after a tired toddler.
We brought snacks with us for dd but they ran out. Easyjet refused to give refreshment voucher for dd. They said she didnt really have a ticket?! We had to buy extra for her. We would have been stuck if she needed special foods or formula.
AIBU to think she’s a person with a ticket and should be entitled to compensation and refreshment just like anyone else?

I agree. That's pretty poor show - especially as airlines won't let you buy a seat for an under-two, even if you want to.

I don't know what the legal line on it is but you would think that they would try to accommodate babies and stressed out parents as a gesture of goodwill atleast.

That's terrible service and I would make a formal complaint. You should also be ange to claim further compensation for the delayed hours, there's a guide on Money Saving Expert if you don't already know where to start.

However, Baroness's comment about child seats is incorrect. I've bought a seat for my 18 month old twice, both Easyjet flights so it can be done. We still had her I our lap most of the way but it was great to have the extra room.

Like above pp. Go and see how much you can claim by using money saving expert.
And then complain to the company about the drink as well.

I’m definitely going to claim the delayed flight compensation and we’ll be quids in (though I’d have preferred flights on time!)
The refreshment vouchers were only a few pounds, it was more the feeling that they totally didnt care about her - sitting around for hours is much harder for a kid thsn an adult. I’ll get complaining and think twice about using easyjet again!

Yes do complain. Email the CEO is a good idea as well as the normal complaints route. The CEO should be interested to hear they refused to provide a child with a drink when they did adults especially if it may go on their Twitter and Facebook couch cough
