Brief outline: old school friend planning BIG do for 50th birthday...group chat in full flow...more and more people from school days crawling out of the woodwork ...
One of them suggested this...
‘You know we should bring a pic of us when we were in Primary and take a pic of us now with a white board sign of what job/ kids we have/ achievement we’ve done.... and make a wee film/photo to inspire our future generation... then put on 80’s clobber...’
Seriously?! This sounds like far too much hard work for a party!
So, this got me thinking...I should do a PowerPoint...blow the whiteboards out the water...😉😂

The picture sounds nice (as long as everyone in it is invited to the party).

I think the whiteboards idea isn't great to be honest. There will be people who have had bad things happen to them or at least nothing much to list as achievements.

I’d feel much the same the way about a PowerPoint tbh.

Agreed. You need to show Michelle from primary school that no matter how much she wants to brag about how well she’s doing on a whiteboard that you’re way more successful and tech savvy and your PowerPoint of dreams will make her inspirational film look like child’s play 😂

What does your friend planning his/her party think about these efforts to rebrand it a primary school reunion?!

ellav · 22/05/2018 04:24

It's a birthday party, not a school reunion. End of.

emmyrose2000 · 22/05/2018 04:28

Do you mean a PowerPoint of photos of Michelle for her party? That sounds lovely.

But if you mean a PowerPoint of all the people coming to the party/who were at school, then no. This is someone's special birthday party, not a school reunion. If the other people want to do the type of things they suggested in the OP, then they need to be told to organise their own school reunion, not try and hijack someone else's event.

RedDwarves · 22/05/2018 05:42

Also confused whether you mean photos of people with the person having the birthday, or just photos of themselves.

If the former, great idea, if the latter, echoing the thoughts of others that it's not a school reunion.

A prezi is the way forward Wink

spacewitch99 · 22/05/2018 17:48

Oh I do like the ‘prezi’ idea!
It’s a birthday party....but turning into Top Trumps...
I will probably give my apologies and not go, tbh...
