Size 4 nappies

Not an AIBU, I’m sorry, but I need the traffic!

I’m tearing my hair out with the current nappy situation! My nearly ten month old daughter is approx 9kg with long skinny legs and a bit of a tummy (observation of the way she fits into leggings etc). She is pooing a lot at the moment due to teething and new foods, I think. Typically 4-6 times a day, mostly solid but sometimes a bit slimy. Most of her poos are leaking out the legs of her nappies and I’m getting so fed up with clearing up after her and changing/washing her clothes!

I’ve tried size 4 nappies from Aldi, Pampers premium protection, Tesco super fit and Tesco ultra dry, but they all leak from the legs.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any recommendations for other brands to try?? Particularly those tighter on the legs??

Sounds counter intuitive but have you tried the next size up?

I’d just put her back in size 3s, it’s not a hard and fast rule that you have to change them as their weight goes up.

DS (2.1) technically weighs enough for size 5 nappies but they are way too big - also has skinny legs - he’s been in size 4s for about a year I think.

My DD found going up a size helped, so she tried 4+, but, as said, you don't have to move them up.

We haven’t had leaks with Asda size 4 nappies but did with Pampers (haven’t tried others).

I’ve never had an issue with leg leaking in a size 4... if sizing up and down don’t help could you maybe get a wrap designed to go over washable nappies and see if that helps?

moreismore · 21/05/2018 16:33

The aldi 4+ are actually slightly larger although I think they’re intended to just be more absorbant, if that helps!

Reusable nappy cover over the top of the disposable?

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 21/05/2018 17:57

We also found pampers leaked. We use Asda little angels - only ever leaked in extreme circumstances!

Fruitcorner123 · 21/05/2018 18:06

The best nappies i've found are tescos. My rule is if they regularly leak they are probably too small. I've always moved them up earlier than the sizings suggest.

Have you tried an Active Fit type nappy? We use these overnight as unlike premium protection/baby dry they don’t leak for us. And size down, sounds like she has skinny legs and they’re maybe not tight enough.
