Of our bed!!! And make him sleep on the settee or even some nights would happily send him to the garden!

He has starting flinging his arms and legs around when sleeping Shock

This has only been happening for about a week now, he is just getting over a virus and said he has had some horrible dreams recently (so could be why) but I have had enough Sad

This is what happened last night...

1.15am his leg shoots into the air and then smashes back down on the bed, it felt like an earthquake.
2.30am he turns over and his arm swings in the air and hits me over the head.
4.40am another leg earthquake.
5.10am turns over once again but this time I get an arm in the face and a leg on top of mine AngryHmm

If he's flinging his arms and legs around like that while asleep, he might actually hurt himself on the settee, especially if it's got wooden bits.

As you think it's a temporary thing, could you sleep on the settee ?

If it's not temporary, I'd start saving up for a bigger bed, or twins that you can push apart...

My partner gave me a concussion and didnt even wake up he sleeps on the sofa now

LittleMe03 · 21/05/2018 15:40

Well I did say he could go on the settee or in the garden.... GrinGrin

Temporary at the minute, I hope it is because he has been poorly and it doesn't last much longer.

Yes if I'm woken tonight I think I may sleep on the settee instead, so I get a decent nights sleep!

It could be the virus or could possibly be stress. Is he worried about anything?

LittleMe03 · 21/05/2018 15:41

@bsbabas

Confused oh no!

I do this all the time - in my case it is part of a parasomnia but made worse through stress - he definitely can't help it so best to not share a bed until it stops.
I caused my DH a couple of injuries from my sleep thrashing (we are lucky enough to now have separate rooms).

Temporarily it's not so bad - but when it is perm as in my case it is a massive PITA!

LittleMe03 · 21/05/2018 15:47

He has had quite a big promotion at work, 4 months ago. He doesn't seem too stressed about it but maybe he is more worried than he lets on or thinking about work etc

Seeing as he’s recovering from an illness I think it would be kinder if you slept on the sofa yourself. Or at the very least took it in turns.

Sweatymoose · 21/05/2018 15:52

it could very well be the virus upsetting his sleep temporarily. Unless he's fine with sleeping on the sofa for a few nights, I'd let him sleep/sweat it out personally, he's not been well, as unpleasant as it is for you.

But if it does become a more of a problem, perhaps he has sleep apnoea? Perhaps an extreme suggestion, but my brother in law has it and lashes out a lot in his sleep/has bad nightmares

HateTheDF · 21/05/2018 15:53

My DP did this for a little bit after recovering from illness a few years ago. I just slept on the sofa and it soon passed. I hope it sorts itself out soon.

LittleMe03 · 21/05/2018 15:59

Thanks for the advice. It has been each night for about 8 nights now I think. It is frustrating because I am so tired Sad he doesn't want either of us to sleep in the settee, likes us sharing our bed etc but I am going to speak to him this evening and let him know just how much it is disturbing my sleep and I have had enough. He sleeps and is unaware it's happening and I have had over a week now of very broken sleep.

Will definitely seek medical advice if it does continue.
