Just that really. Every weekend we seem to just sit here wasting time. I’m a single mum with 3 kids (ds12) (dd8) (dd4) my ds wants to do nothing apart from pay on his Xbox and I end up sitting in the garden with dd’s fighting over the paddling pool then they get fed up and end up watching the tv. There is literally no one outside and even the playground is empty, I’m sure when I was a kid we used to be out all the time?

I dont do a great deal, I had a load of to do jobs today...ive drank tea so far Smile My DS9 is currently playing on the PS4, but im gunna get my butt of the sofa and wash my car soon, then maybe walk the dog to the park so DS can have a run around, Its boring tricky when your on your own though and the kids ages are spread out, not easy to keep them all entertained.

PussGirl · 20/05/2018 14:30

Yesterday I shopped for food in the morning, mowed the lawn in the afternoon & went to the cinema with friends in the evening.

Today I slobbed around this morning & have just baked some scones while waiting for my boyfriend to arrive.

I don;t have any set commitments that I have to do every weekend, which is great!

Echobelly · 20/05/2018 14:32

Sounds like a good idea ImogenTubbs - my weekends inevitably get filled up, even when I plan to leave them empty.

I usually go to the gym early on Saturday, as DH won't be ready to leave the house for a a couple of hours. We go to synagogue some Saturdays as well.

Shopping usually Sunday before lunch (sometimes all of us, sometimes just me, sometimes DH). I would rather order over internet and have it delivered, but DH doesn't like doing it that way.

Kids sometimes have a playdate or parties, or we might have tea or lunch with our families (who both live locally). Now and then we might have an outing somewhere or go to a restaurant.

Some helping with homework, as we don't have much time during the week and aren't home until kids' dinner time.

AlonsosLeftPinky · 20/05/2018 14:32

Go out for walks or cycling, go into town and have dinner, cocktails, go to the cinema, go shopping, weekends away to do a bit of sightseeing, go to a spa, sporting events etc etc

avidenjoyer · 20/05/2018 14:33

Various. On Saturday morning we might go to a park if the weather is good. In the afternoon DD has a swimming lessson which I take her to and DS potters with DH, often in the garden.
Sunday - dropped in on my mum in the morning, baked some fairy cakes with the DC, and shortly we're having a bbq to celebrate DH birthday. nothing spectacular.

ToadOfSadness · 20/05/2018 14:37

Get the shopping and hide in the house to get some peace and quiet because it is unbearably noisy here with all the yelling and screaming from all directions.

I want to live where I used to live, it was peaceful there Sad

Wishfulmakeupping · 20/05/2018 14:38

Normally our weekends are swimming lessons/Park/play dates/shopping
This weekend we’ve also been to a party and trip to farm this morning.
This afternoon I’ll get the kids playing back garden and we’ll take them for walk while they ride scooters

happypoobum · 20/05/2018 14:41

Relaxing, reading, mumsnetting (obvs)

Gardening, bit of housework, then sat in the garden for a bit reading and looking at the sea.

Now watching TV and will do some work soon, just an hour or so.

Then more housework, then will dye my hair, do my nails and put facepack on.

TV
Reading
Bed.

Disclaimer: Youngest child is old enough to go out see friends on his own and the village we live in has buses into town every 7 minutes on Saturday and 20 minutes on a Sunday.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 20/05/2018 14:42

We had breakfast in the Sainsbury's café yesterday, apart from that, slobbing about. Why should I make my DC do something they don't want to do? They have 2 hours exercise a day, 5 days a week. Weekends are chill out time.

ghostyslovesheets · 20/05/2018 14:42

not a huge amount - dd's 1+2 are teens and do their own thing - or sleep for hours!

DD3 has a gang and plays out all day (or is in one of their houses or here with 768967968769 small girls) but doesn't want me to join in!

I tend to do housework, wash and iron, catch up on TV, read, garden etc

I run at least one of the days if not both.

WonderTweek · 20/05/2018 14:43

I wish I was less tired at weekends because there’s lots of stuff I’d like to do, but my son is only 16 months so what I can do is a bit limited at the moment anyway. Grin

I get up with toddler at around 6 or 7am and we have breakfast and get ready and play around for a bit. I tend to do some washing/washing up/tidying up and then take toddler out for a quick toddle outside before he goes down for his nap. My husband can’t function in the mornings so he usually joins us after breakfast or slightly later on, and after our son’s nap we all do something together, e.g. have lunch, go for a walk/to the park or see the grandparents or maybe go geocaching. Then back for a second nap (lol, this is where husband and I usually try and get it on Grin) and more pottering around the house. Then playtime/shops/tv/odd jobs, followed by dinner, our son’s bath and then bed. We might stay up and watch a film if we’re feeling adventurous.

Not massively exciting but we are knackered at the moment! There are weekends where we travel and do geocaching or visit tourist attractions but we just like hanging out at home or wandering outside. I’m sure that when my son grows a bit and drops his naps to one we will be able to do more. He’s never slept on the go so we are slaves to his naps at the moment. Hmm

Greenkit · 20/05/2018 14:43

I work every weekend from 6.30 till 6 sat and sun

HelenaJustina · 20/05/2018 14:43

Yesterday the morning was spent ferrying one child, and catching up on some housework, the other DC largely played outside and entertained themselves. Then we watched an hour or so of the royal wedding as a family before lunch.
Then hosted a party for 20 Reception age children for DC4s Birthday. By the time that was over and cleared away it was time to bath them and put them to bed.

Sunday’s always start with 9am Mass for the whole family. DC have played in the garden or in the street with friends since we got back (apart from when they were called in for roast chicken, salads and French bread for lunch) I’ve read the paper, made lunch and done the ironing. This afternoon we have another church thing and then are swinging by some family for birthday cake. Then DC1 to church youth group while I bath and bed the rest.

I don’t work Mondays so spend it tidying up from the weekend!

arethereanyleftatall · 20/05/2018 14:44

This weekend we've...
Friday night - dds swimming, then both went to friends houses for sleepovers, dh and I went out for a meal.
Sat - dd1 had football tournament, dd2 had ballet and dance, then we had two families over to ours for a bbq, went on till 9pm.
Sun - dh played golf, dds played together out in the garden, then we all walked through woods to a lovely pub for lunch, now all chilling on the sofa eating chocolate. I'm going swim training this evening.

TroubledLichen · 20/05/2018 14:47

Saturday mornings I volunteer then DH and DD meet me afterwards for brunch. Afternoon we usually go to the park, go for a walk, do some shopping etc. Sundays we might have a day out, today the weather is yuck so we’re going to a museum and then food shopping on the way home.

ICantCopeAnymore · 20/05/2018 14:49

DCs hobbies on a Saturday at 12, so chilled morning and then that until 4. Evenings are usually a family movie or games night. Sundays, dinner at the parents' or a day out of some sort.

DailyMailFail101 · 20/05/2018 14:52

Each weekend we get up and have a leisurely breakfast, go on a hours walk with the dog, come home have a quick tidy up and then grab some lunch, then do an activity something like swimming/little children’s funfair/supermarket shop, get back home let little one have a nap older one will play with toys then it’s time to walk the dog to the playground for another hour out, have dinner and watch TV then put kids to bed.

I couldn’t hang around the house all day it would drive me mad, even a nice morning walk on the beach and a trip to the supermarket would refresh your day and get a you out and about.

kaytee87 · 20/05/2018 14:59

Yesterday morning took ds (almost 2) round to visit my Gran. In the afternoon we visited a cousins house for a garden party type thing.
This morning we went to botanic gardens then a park. This afternoon we're currently watching Wallace and Gromit and having a cuddle on the sofa.

VioletCharlotte · 20/05/2018 14:59

Yesterday I went to the gym, got my hair coloured, and did the food shopping. Then went to a friends for a bbq in the afternoon/ evening. Today I've been out for a long walk with the dog and popped to see my parents. I'm spending the afternoon cleaning unfortunately (between bouts of Mumsnetting!)

kaytee87 · 20/05/2018 15:00

If your oldest is 12 then I'd consider leaving him at home on a Saturday morning so the younger two go out somewhere.
All 3 kids might enjoy; swimming, bowling, cinema, local museums?

Fluffybat · 20/05/2018 15:06

My DH and I alternate lay ins so one of us gets up with DS to give him breakfast etc. Yesterday we took DS to park, went food shopping, watched wedding then spent afternoon in garden. DS had nap so I baked scones. Today we went to church, then to a free range farm to pick up eggs. DS petted all the other animals and fed ducks. Then a country walk and a stop off at pub. Then home for late lunch. DS is now napping so I'm doing a bit of work as is DH. Then we will spend afternoon on garden.

Rudgie47 · 20/05/2018 15:09

Yesterday tried to go to the coast on a bus but had to get off early due to religious chanting. I've nothing against any religion but loud practices on buses are not appropriate really.
Today I've been to print out a £10.00 voucher off from an email at the library and done housework. Theres nowhere round here to go that I havent been 1000s of times before. Everytime I try to go somewhere I'm either thwarted by the cost, how much? or theres some other catastrophie.

brizzledrizzle · 20/05/2018 15:09

Whatever we fancy at the time really, xbox, a bike ride, reading, relaxing in the garden. We never do anything that costs money, at least we haven't done since Xmas.

NeverTwerkNaked · 20/05/2018 15:10

3 of the children have theatre school on Saturday morning, so I hang out with no4...
Then we might play at home or go to a playground or the beach

Sunday we sometimes go to visit family for the day or something, but usually we vegetate for a bit on Sunday morning then go swimming or to a playground or similar in the afternoon.

adaline · 20/05/2018 15:10

I work, but when I was growing up we never spent the whole weekend indoors.

We went to the shops, to the park, out for lunch or cake, swimming, roller skating, to soft play, or even just out for a bike ride or a walk somewhere. National trust properties were popular too - our local one had deer you could feed, for example, and this time of year there are baby animals to feed.

Or things like farm parks, the zoo etc - I appreciate they're not cheap but annual passes often pay for themselves once you've been two or three times - take a picnic and you've got a good value day out if you go regularly and they tend to appeal to all ages.
