To be utterly fucking fed up of cooking/ providing food

The three year old rejects every meal that isnt plain pasta or chips. I serve food now with literally no hope at all he’ll touch it. Made shepherds pie tonight which he has previously eaten and liked, but he didn’t touch it, so has gone to bed without dinner as I’m fed up (he’s had a banana, so not starving). At ten months the baby seems to be going the same way, I’m surely partly because he sees his older brother rejecting stuff. DH is a shift worker so needs to eat at odd hours, hates all fruit and most veg, and has recently been diagnosed with dairy intolerance. I’m coeliac, and also try to eat low carb as it’s the only way I’ve ever been able to lose weight. There is not one single fucking meal that everyone in the family will/ can eat and I’m so bloody fed up with it. I used to love cooking but now it’s the most unholy chore. And the sheer waste of food served to the children and then thrown away is ridiculous. I’ve also just looked in the kitchen and apparently even the sodding cat is now turning his nose up at his dinner, despite the fact it has tuna on top. ARGH.

I am in a very similar position and I want to shout and scream every meal time. I hate it. I literally hate it. I've gone so off food lately and I think this is why. I want to shout and scream and cry. It is absolutely soul destroying.

Nobody enjoys the churn of daily cooking for children. That's why men don't do it.

Totally agree OP - cooking for and feeding everyone day in and day out 3 times a day is the most tedious chore on earth. I am literally bored to tears with it. Some days I think if it was just me I was cooking for I'd just shovel down some toast and be done with it. Bloody endless peeling and chopping. And then clearing up all the crap in the kitchen afterwards. Slaving away over a meal only for someone to start moaning because it has mushrooms in it. I wish sometimes we had a house elf to do it for me.

Dustysparrow, yes agree it’s a fine line before cooking becomes catering and it’s so boring. I do vaguely remember a time when I used to enjoy cooking. Catering not so much.

This makes me feel more human! I loved cooking until I was a step mom and now loathe it. Four different meals, effort rejected, it's painful. Other half now dosnt cook at all - had to cook one day as I was out and couldn't turn oven on in our new (5 months) house!
