address being used without my consent

posting for traffic. I woke up to a letter addressed c/o (dp brothers name) with my address. it was from his brothers social worker and about the fact he didnt attend a care apt of some sort at town hall.

ok backstory. in dec he was arrested for racial slur against neighbours and social work were in touch with dd's school before notifying me. school were amazing and told them no issues. I also stated that the person in question had NOTHING to do with me or dd and questioned why we were involved. apparantly mil had been talking about us in some way in front of her sw and they jumped to thinking bail would be given at my address.wtf! mil did get her sw to bring her to my address to find dp who was not at his home a few days after. still it was all put to rest. Now I wake up to this letter.

any ideas on why they are using my address please. I am livid. I am nothing to do with this at all and keep away from dps brother for good reason. dd doesnt even know he exists.

Just to say that, unlike some PP, I totally understand why you're freaked out. I would be too. Get on the phone tomorrow, and also send the letter back with a covering letter to ensure everyone involved knows the facts and that he lives with your MIL. I'd be cross with her too.

And your DP? Does he have contact with his brother? Do you live together? Did he say to use your address?

FrequentFlyerRandomDent · 20/05/2018 13:15

Sympathies. I would write to SS and explain (to leave a paper trail). In the meantime, if any other mail comes, return to sender. It is free, simply cross out your address and write "not at this address, return to sender and the post will return it to SS.

Not on glue.
It might be a mistake but many years ago used to know someone who worked in the DSS fraud department and I got to know a few of the things she would do to prove someone was living with a claimant.

LilQueenie · 21/05/2018 13:20

living with a claimant? how did this jump from ss to benefits?

Im about to call.

not much help on phone but spoke in person to ss. they were led to believe dps brother was living with him. they dont know dps address and assumed it was mine which it is not. furthermore dp doesnt want to pass on any mail to him as they do not get on.

heres the weird part they didnt want dps address either even though he said pass it on. It would also appear dps brother cannot get mail at his own address which has us both confused.

SS told me the messed up with address. yep big time.

I did however make it clear that I wanted all contact regarding this person stopped. whatever is going on, well your guess is as good as mine!

LilQueenie · 21/05/2018 18:29

Make a temp email so you have a paper trail if it becomes necessary later.
