To drive 5.5 hours without stopping?

DP and I are on a short break in the UK, we left first thing this morning. The journey took about 5.5 hours and I drove all the way; we filled up with fuel before we left and had drinks and snacks in the car. Obviously if we had needed the loo we would have stopped.

I spoke to DM when I got here and she was very concerned that we hadn't stopped for a rest on the way down.

AIBU to think that two healthy adults can survive a 5.5 hour car journey without needing a break? I do much longer days at work and often work through my lunch, so I don't really see the difference.

How far would you drive without stopping?

I couldn't sit down that long. My absolute max is 3hrs.
I'm a LP and go a bit nuts during without adult conversation so have to break to stretch and have a bite to eat.

it be worried id have an accident not my fault then the other drivers insurers would use the fact of a 6 hour journey against me

We do all the time. Usually do 6 to Scottish border then swap every 2/3 over highlands. We rarely swap though for standard drives. Takes ages to get anywhere otherwise. I used to do a 4.5hr trip every friday whoch often turnt into a 6/7 due to M25.

Fine for you I am sure. I pretty much can't drive more than about 3.5 hrs at most without needing a break even If only to stretch my legs / move around a bit. I have never liked driving for hours without a break. I find myself feeling zoned out or tired, sometimes even sleepy so I stop, have a break/coffee when I need it. In my experience that is usually after about 2-3 hrs of driving. Sometimes I even stop after less time.
Drives do tend to take me longer than most people though for this reason

YANBU I've done it and would do it again. I think the only reason I'd stop these days is if DSD was in the car and she needed a break. But just for me or me and DP, we'd both rather just get there soon rather than later.

I’ve easily done 7 hour trips to Cornwall without a stop. If I don’t need the loo I don’t stop. Obviously if I felt tired then I would.

I've done it on my own with 2 youngish kids in the car (South coast to Cumbria, kids were 6 and 8) ... although, come to think of it, we may have stopped briefly for a wee-break.

It depends a bit on what you're used to. My commute is 90 mins in the car, so 3 hours of driving a day on top of a full day at work, so 6 hours doesn't actually seem that daunting.

People do it, but I don't think it is a good idea.

Bladder issues aside -
It's not comparable with most people's jobs as a slip in concentration at work (for most of u, I know there are exceptions), isn't likely to result in a potentially fatal, or life changing RTA.
