To ask how often you change your LO’s nappy

Beckyx96 · 18/05/2018 12:26

Just that really, how often do you usually change your LO’s nappy & how old are they?

The reason for asking is because my DP had DS for an entire day while I was doing work training and he went through about 12 nappies. I asked why and he said he changes his nappy every hour (never knew this before lol) then said it’s bad that I dont. (Lighthearted) surely this is not the norm? When he was a tiny baby i did and that was the last time DP had DS for an entire day on his own.

I usually change first thing in a morning, whenever he does a #2 then before morning nap, before afternoon nap, before tea time and before bed. He is 9 months old. How often do you change?

8mo old here, everytime she has a bottle so every 4ish hours and if shes poos Smile

CatLadyToddlerMother · 18/05/2018 15:41

2.11 year old I change whenever it's needed which is roughly every 3.5-4 hours. Nursery change her every 3-.3.5 hours and whenever required so tend to get through 5-6 nappies a day there where I get through 4-5.

Frazzled2207 · 18/05/2018 15:54

Mine are trained now but for most of their nappy wearing years there would be about 3 a day and 1 a night, possibly extra for poos and if they'd drank more than usual.
Like most normal families we don't have unlimited rubbish collection, only once a fortnight and not a particularly large bin.

Bbbbbbbb2017 · 18/05/2018 15:57

I do when they need it

Sometimes tjat is an hour sometimes 6

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 18/05/2018 15:58

Youngest 7 months has his changed roughly every 2 hours or maybe more regularly but he's a very poopy baby. Every few hours is fine. And when I worked in a nursery we were told to change every 3 to 4 hours.

Handsfull13 · 18/05/2018 15:58

My twins are 15 months and we do 3-4 each a day depending on poos

hampsteadholly · 18/05/2018 15:58

Approximately every 2 hours

happymummy12345 · 18/05/2018 15:59

That sounds fine. Tbh I only changed when it was needed.

BluePheasant · 18/05/2018 16:00

Would he like to change every hour through the night as well?? Grin

RedPandaMama · 18/05/2018 16:02

9mo DDs gets changed about 4-6 times a day

8am when she wakes up
12pm before lunch
3pm mid afternoon
6.30pm before bed

Possibly once or twice more if she poo's lots!

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 18/05/2018 16:04

Mine aren’t babies but she they were I changed them as soon as the pooed or as soon as I could tell they had peed. I wouldn’t knowlingly leave them in a wet nappy just because it wasn’t soaked.

TammySwansonTwo · 18/05/2018 16:04

When mine were in nicu / scbu they were changed 3 hourly or when they’d done a poo. We’ve basically kept that up, although they’ve had allergy rekated nappy rash and then I change them more often.

AuntMae · 18/05/2018 16:05

First thing (7am), mid-morning (10ish), before nap after lunch (12.30ish), after nap (3pm) then bedtime at 6.30pm. She usually poops first thing in the morning. She's 18 months.

QueenofSerene · 18/05/2018 16:10

For my daughter (16mths) I change her when she first wakes up, before naps and before bed time and anytime in between that is when I can clearly smell a dirty nappy. Daycare policy is to change them every 2 hours.

For my son (nearly 4mths) it’s before every bottle so roughly every 4 hours except during the night because he’ll sleep for a good 12 hours and I’m not going to wake him for no reason.

LionAllMessy · 18/05/2018 16:10

First thing (7am), before nap (12.30 pm) and before bath (6.30 pm), plus whener he poos which is once or sometimes twice a day.

He's 18 months and we use cloth nappies. Never had any rash.

Essexmummy88 · 18/05/2018 16:14

Mine is 6 weeks and I change him every 3 hoursish (I don’t count) or whenever he does a poo. I don’t change him in the night unless he has pooed

ijustwannadance · 18/05/2018 16:17

4 months old. Before each feed or after a poo. 6 a day.

Amanduh · 18/05/2018 16:47

After a poo, apart from that prob every 3/4 hrs ish or when v wet. I definitely did it too much when he was a newborn but pfb and all that

GrandTheftWalrus · 18/05/2018 16:59

18 months old and about 3 times a day.

First thing in morning.
Before nap or if dirty
Before bed.

She wears pampers baby dry and they hold a fuck ton of pee.

Obviously if she needs changed more she'll be changed.

Beckyx96 · 18/05/2018 16:59

BluePheasant haha! He’s a very good sleeper has slept through since 6 months luckily but i’m sure he wouldn’t have liked to at night Wink

Kingsclerelass goodness me no wonder he’s an ex! DP’s very protective of our son he takes everything very OTT, he eats on his own but he still refuses to feed him anything with a slight lump and spoon feeds him everything! Luckily for DS I only work until 10am so he gets a proper lunch, snack and dinner but breakfast is always very watered down weetabix or porridge lol

freezerfoodyum · 18/05/2018 17:02

Ds is two. Thus far today I changed him at 7 when he woke up, at 9 when he did a poo and at 12.30 before he napped...

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2018 17:03

Zibbidee, that's madness, how many nappies did you get through in a day?
They aren't wet in modern nappies after one wee.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 18/05/2018 17:06

I have no idea, I didn’t count! I wasn’t trying to keep track of nappy consumption, rather just have babies with comfortable bottoms. I used a mix of cloth and disposable. And no, it’s not madness to take a nappy containing urine off a baby’s bottom.
