To think they could have left a note if they binned my flowers?

I live in a communal block

I already know you shouldn't leave things outside. However I trust my landing and didn't think one pot was much of a fire risk. I was quite proud of my efforts and thought would brighten things up for a few days to leave my flowers outside on the landing.

I was prepared I might get a knock or a note from the caretaker asking they be moved inside

Today they're gone with no explanation

And I would have liked the pot and oasis foam for next time.

AIBU to think it was incredibly mean to take them? I'm assuming and bIn what was an expensive effort?

The pic is taken before I took them to my landing btw

Yes as in my op I did appreciate I was breaking the rules and would have moved if asked

If you feel the caretaker should have asked why do you not apply the same standards to yourself? You knew the rules yet didn't ask if it was ok to display your flowers outside. YABU

You are being unreasonable.

It's not just the trip hazard aspect - corridors are considered to be a 'sterile area' with different fire partitioning. Even tucked out of the way, it could provide fuel to a flame which shouldn't be there.

Although I do normally send out a note at my blocks warning people I'm going to be removing buggies/flowers/doormats/shoes/cans of paint and bottles of turps left in meter cupboards/piles of post etc.

You could hang a pretty wreath on your door. That would be a compromise.

Post Grenfell OP, landlords are not mucking about with this sort of thing and for good reason.
