I don’t want a diagnosis or anything. I’ve been prescribed some medicine by a nurse practitioner who spent 40 mins googling in trying to help, I was supposed to see the doctor however they failed to turn up at the hospital walk in centre Hmm.

Not a doctor but if you're concerned about the medication, could you speak to a pharmacist?

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 17/05/2018 20:14

The hospital pharmacist was too busy to speak to me, and when I went to my local pharmacy it was closed.

Have you got a supermarket with a pharmacy you could ring? They usually open late round here. We've also got a midnight pharmacy near us and I've rung them at well past 11pm before now. It doesn't necessarily need to be local to you if you could find a number and call. Good luck.

I would be very cautious about taking medical advice from someone claiming to be a doctor on an anonymous forum. They could be a trapeze walker for all you know.

HollowTalk · 17/05/2018 20:21

I'd phone a supermarket pharmacy - they are very helpful.

BexConnor · 17/05/2018 20:22

Agree that the best bet is to ring a late night pharmacy if you need help now, there is usually one near a hospital - we have one near us that's open until 11pm. I would be very cautious taking advice about the safety of prescription medication etc over a forum.

Nurse prescribers are highly trained and are fully legally and professionally accountable for their practice. They arent going to prescribe something they are unsure about just because they have a patient there expecting it Hmm

NotARegularPenguin · 17/05/2018 21:40

Sometimes even doctors google. Were they googling the medication? Because they may have been checking the BNF online?

RoseWhiteTips · 17/05/2018 21:42

Doctors rarely google for 40 minutes...

HicDraconis · 17/05/2018 21:42

I’m a doctor. Anaesthetist / intensive care rather than GP though.

What did you want to know?

NotARegularPenguin · 17/05/2018 21:44

True, 40 mins googling does seem a tad excessive. Grin

wormery · 17/05/2018 21:47

If you haven't got the meds yet why don't you call GP in the morning, nurse practitioners are pretty thorough, is it a commonly used medication.

KitKat1985 · 17/05/2018 22:12

What medication is it? What specifically are you concerned about?

VivaKondo · 17/05/2018 22:14

Just give us the name of the medication and hat is your worry. Difficult to say otherwise...

Couchpotato3 · 17/05/2018 22:16

What is your question? It isn't clear what you are asking.

LoveProsecco · 17/05/2018 22:21

You have lots of kind offers of help
