AIBU to think being a teacher/teaching assistant is worthwhile just for the holidays?

Just that really!
I'd love to know what teachers/TAs think of their jobs- pros and cons.
Of course it would be unreasonable to take a teaching assistant job just for the holidays but it's just so tempting for me as I want a work/life balance!

What are school holidays like for teachers/TAs in terms of workload?
Thanks!

Well I look forward to the holidays! I do work a bit in them, not much.

I tend to do around 2 hours, three nights a week at home plus maybe a little on a Sunday morning.

Mainly this is marking, and planning lessons. I teach maths, and have 5 classes which range from a top set year 7 who are already at a grade c in terms of a gcse, and a bottom set year 10 made of mainly SEN pupils.

I didn’t go into teaching for the holidays but having a break every 6/7 weeks sure as hell makes it a lot easier.

@SheStoodInTheStorm I'm totally with you on this. Lack of budget means that half my ppa involves photocopying etc as no TA to do it for me. To the pp who says mark using AfL, it depends on the schools making policy. Ours doesn't work like that so a set of 30 books takes anything from 45 mins to 2 hours ( not including assessed pieces of writing etc)
4 main lessons a day = potentially 120 books to mark every night.
