Sorry if there is already a thread on this but I wondered what the wise MN hive mind thought of the suggestion to have a 9pm watershed for advertising so-called junk food?
It sort of works for TV although people can record programmes to watch any time.
And how can you have a watershed for social media? Even if I post at 9.01pm, it can be seen any time (and with Facebook's stupid non-chronological algorithm, is highly likely to be seen next week by someone rather than when I post it).
I am not a journalist, I have posted many times on MN under many names, but I just saw an article via Twitter about it and just wondered what people thought.
My own view is that this is simply too easy and a question of "something must be done-itis" and sorting out things like safe cycle paths and giving parkrun some money would be more effective.
My teen son would not eat tomatoes and celery even if they were advertised everywhere and sold outside his school, I think kids like junk food because they like the taste of it (I wouldn't darken McDonalds door, but I don't think I represent the average teenage taste in food).
