What gets rid of the smell? Posting for traffic for obvious reasons 🤢

Assuming it's eau de fox shit on a dog, tomato juice / ketchup / passatta.

Rub into dog, leave on for at least a few minutes in the bath (or chuck the bugger in the back garden for a while) then rinse and follow with usual dog washing product.

Can also be preceded with white wine vinegar as an extra layer of stench cleaning.

waits to be told is cruel for using these products on honking dog

Wolfiefan · 16/05/2018 16:17

Cruel? Ketchup on a dog.
Not as cruel as the stench of fox shit up the owner's nostrils. Evil stuff.

MiggledyHiggins · 16/05/2018 16:18

strong detergent and a good scrub with a brush. Is it on carpet or tile?

I've had it trekked in on tile so doused it in domestos spray and took the worst of it up with paper towel, then a scrubbing brush and more domestoes afterwards. On a rug, I did the paper bit then used carpet cleaner foam and scrubbed.

And go find where they shat and hose that away too so nobody else treks it into the house a second time!

MiggledyHiggins · 16/05/2018 16:19

Ah yes.

OP you really need to elaborate on what said fox shit is sticking to.

Don't use bleach on your dog.

N9t at all cruel, the little buggers deserve it. My youngest knows that, I scream it at her as I massage tomato ketchup into her shoulders on a regular basis 😁

Problem with ketchup is that other dog loves it........

Now, what gets rid of the smell of decomposing seal?

SilverHairedCat · 16/05/2018 16:19

If aforementioned twatting dog has managed to get sleep on the sofa before being caught, use white wine vinegar spray and steam cleaner. Then layer after layer of Febreze. Sofa looks and smells brand new.

SilverHairedCat · 16/05/2018 16:21

Oh god, rotting seal. She's only eaten that so far.... However it's a fatty product, so you need to degrease - I'd use fairy liquid (yes, I know crap for dog skin) to cut through it then follow fox shit protocol, definitely with the vinegar stage.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 16/05/2018 17:14

So far all I know is there has been a code brown. Dog walker text me in warning that it stinks and she is so very sorry for me (doesnt fill me with confidence). The (VERY BAD) dog is alone with sofa, carpets and he can open the door to my room so probably my bed.

As tempting as it is to bleach dog I will resist and try the other suggestions

This was a while ago, we had to drive home with every window open in car, and still gagging!

Head and Shoulders shifted the worst of it 😉

Wolfiefan · 16/05/2018 17:47

Oh fuck.
Sorry OP that's going to be vile.
Couldn't the dog walker have managed a quick wash? Shock

DontTouchTheMoustache · 16/05/2018 17:57

She said she sort of threw him in the direction of a river (lab Springer so not by any means against his wishes) and got as much off as she could. On my way home now...i'm hoping the fox shit elves have been

Bleurgh.

handslikecowstits · 16/05/2018 18:06

Terrier owner here=frequent roller. I use Animology Fox Poo Shampoo on him. Sometimes if it's really pungent, I wash first with the above then ketchup then repeat with the Fox Poo stuff. Seems to work.

SilverHairedCat · 16/05/2018 19:12

I'd want to know why the walker doesn't have a coping strategy for poo rolling and muddy dog washing - all of ours do.

Puts has a little hand pumped spray thing in the boot of her car! Even a tub of the doggy wet wipes to get the worst of it off is better than nothing, but putting them into your house in that condition is not on.

SilverHairedCat · 16/05/2018 19:13

*ours

DontTouchTheMoustache · 16/05/2018 19:29

I suppose it's a bit of you get what you pay for, she only charges me £6 for an hour's walk and she is fantastic in every other way.

There’s not much you can do to stop a dog that’s found some love fox shit to luxuriate in TBF. They can identify it, you can’t and I don’t know what it is with that disgusting stuff, but they come over like beasts possessed.

So I wouldn’t blame the walker, but I do feel for you.

Toooldtobearsed · 16/05/2018 20:07

Another one saying dont blame the walker. I am super vigilant now, but ddog2 still manages, at least once a week, to rub/roll/luxuriate in some foul smelling crap.

The only answer would be to keep her on lead, as I dont want to do that, cannot then whinge (too much)!

Was there nowhere your dog could be contained? We have a fully tiled boot room and ours get slung in there if they get too wet/smelly.

It is a pain in the bum, but they enjoy it 😁

SilverHairedCat · 16/05/2018 20:28

No, the walker can't stop the dog rolling, Nd I wouldn't expect them to.

I would, however, expect them to do more than point them towards the river if they're grim. Its a basic expectation IMO, and to shove them into an unattended house having rolled in poo would be unacceptable to me.

I only pay £10/hr, but for that I want to see their insurance documents, a brief description of how they deal with muddy and wet dogs, and some sort of proof of the walks taking place - they all use Facebook round here, so it's easy enough as they just post photos from their walks. It's standard stuff in this area, so I assumed it was widespread.
