To ask the estate agent to remove their signs?

About 5 doors up from me in are two adjacent properties which have Estate Agents’ boards outside them saying “Re-Let by X Agent”. One of the boards has been up for over two months, and I mean that it has been saying “Re-Let” for 2 months- the original “To Let” board ( that I have no issue with) was there for a month before that.

AIBU to think that the agents are taking the piss with what is just free general advertising? I’m surprised that the tenants haven’t asked to have them removed.

I suspect that the agents would tell me to do one if I called and asked them to take them down though. Anyone have any bright ideas?

Thanks Jonobb. I just found that my council has a web page saying more or less that as well as a form to fill to report them. But have emailed the agent politely asking them to remove them, before reporting to council.

Oh don't be so sanctimonious @SuperSara - not my first reaction at all. With knowledge of the specific legislation I would just quote that to them.

Update in case anyone is interested- they are clearly breaching local regulations as per my Council’s website as there is an absolute ban on any sign that states that a property has been let, unless it says “subject to contract”. The agent ignored my polite email asking for them to be removed. I filled in the Council form to report them and told the agent that I had reported them. They were taken down this morning. Grin
