Being a bit lighthearted, but my NDNs!!

This has really made us laugh recently, our NDNs don’t like us, not really sure what we have done, they used to talk a little bit, but no longer really do. Infact if they can get away with it they completely ignore us.

But here’s the kicker, they wave at our dog.

They stop outside of our window and wave at the dog (which usually sends him batshit!)

I realised it the first time, and thought how bloody strange, especially as the noise that comes from our house is generally the deer like dog bounding about, or barking at something!
But ive seen them waving at the dog has become a bit of a habit, usually as they walk past us without saying a word, or getting out a Hello if they have to.

This is funny behaviour isn’t it?!

Train the dog to go shitface from a wave, easily done

hungryhippo90 · 15/05/2018 03:13

Puffycat- really? This is where it’s going? He wants to get to them. Ofcourse he’s gonna want a fuss, he’s still a young boy who wants to play with everyone and everything. and the neighbours waving at him and overexciting him is against the wishes of the behaviouralist. But thanks for the unrequited advice.

Put some nets up! I wouldn't like that. I have a large, good looking white dog and a long drive. People see him sitting behind the gate at the end of the drive...and they WALK UP my drive to see him which makes him go crazy barking.

They then carry on! Trespassing on my property just to have a look at my (admittedly extraordinarily handsome) dog. It's cheeky as hell!

AjasLipstick · 15/05/2018 03:15

It's not as if the dog is giving welcoming barks either. He's showing his teeth because people are on his drive!

I think they don't want to lose face so carry on to "prove" they can calm him down.

Which they never can as he's a guardian dog.

Puffycat · 15/05/2018 03:18

I’m joking obviously!
You just need to train the dog to go for the throat when you say “tosser’

flumpybear · 15/05/2018 03:18

Nets 😱😱😱

hungryhippo90 · 15/05/2018 03:18

Ajaslipstick- oh god, really they just walk up? I’m laughing a bit because that really is quite absurd!

We do have nets (and quite heavy curtains, but quite a few of our windows are floor length, so the dogs often laid down by the window, head having been burrowed under the curtain lol. Maybe dogs just make people act a bit strange!

Just get a fucking cat fgs!

hungryhippo90 · 15/05/2018 03:22

Puffy- sorry I misread your tone- we are on AIBU lol!
Lol, I couldn’t! I think they’re just a bit mad waving at the dog, every single time they see them, and I’m sure they’ll complain the day they have a barbecue and he decides they’ve welcomed him. 😂 I can just imagine him leaping the fence for food!

Hungry yes really and it's very clear that it's private property. I live set back on a quiet section of a high street...people walk past on weekends to get to a beauty spot nearby.

They see the dog and stop to peer down the driveway...the dog sits up and looks back which seems to encourage them.

Then they come down the drive and the dog goes into "GET AWAY OR I WILL KILL YOU!" mode.

He won't really kill them, it's all posturing but they don't know that! He's a big dog and the gate is waist height to a tall man....so for all they know, he could jump it!

They carry on until they're a few feet away and then marvel at him while he goes mad....and then I come out and say "He;ll jump over if you don't leave my drive"
And they look all offended.

He'd never jump over in reality but they don't know that and they'd all sue me if he did!

he's bigger than most Alsatians and much chunkier.
