tiger stripe bruising discussed here

Fattymcfaterson · 14/05/2018 22:18

Mine looked like that, was fine after a week or 2.
I wouldn't bother with walk in, if you're that concerned just see your GP or whoever inserted it

lljkk · 14/05/2018 22:18

sorry OP... yours is looking right tame after I googled.

Mine hurt like buggery for ~7 days after insertion. It was painless coming out, at least.

Notsureabc · 14/05/2018 22:20

@lljkk I just read that, the bruise looks Shock but she also said she was having no pain, the stripes are getting worse and it seems to be when I move at angles it stabs me and I am in pain elbow to armpit Sad I get so stressed about these things

Did you have one removed?

Mine was like that when mine was changed, but I put it down to the hideous experience of having the previous one removed.

lljkk · 15/05/2018 18:38

What happened, Notsure?

Notsureabc · 15/05/2018 19:58

@lljkk walk in said it wasn’t dangerous (my worry) that as it hit a vein it could take 3+ weeks to heal properly, I think bc I have a 7 month old who needs picking up etc Ive been making it bad, my MIL has look after her mostly today and my arm it looking less stripy, some have faded, so I think I just need to take it v easy.

Thanks for update. Bodies, eh? Who'd have 'em.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 15/05/2018 20:44

My first one was improperly places, hurt all the time, kept catching on my bodyband of my bra, and i got a massive scar tissue lump at one end for the first 6 months, til it suddenly shifted in my arm about 3 inches, afterthat i could physically move it and it got bent so if i pressed both ends the middle would pop up sticking out, had it out after 2 years instead of 3, my new one is properly placed (GP this time not a brook clinic) and i forget its there.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 15/05/2018 21:07

Mine looked exactly like that (I do bruise easily) and was painful for a few days. It healed up fine. Like other posters I had had one removed and a new one put in the same place, which probably made it worse.

Do get checked out if you're worried, but this isn't as unusual as the thread suggests. Smile

To the poster with the vegan relative... the eggs will have had nothing to do with it. Bruises heal over time so of course it got better after she ate some eggs... and after she washed up... and after she slept on her left side... and all the other things she coincidentally did around that time.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 15/05/2018 21:08

That'll teach me to reply without refreshing. Glad you got it checked out and all is okay!

TheActualFuck · 15/05/2018 21:38

That's what mine looked like and yes, horrible stabby pain.. if I remember it took about a month for it to look less angry and a couple of weeks for the pain and discomfort to go.

Glad you got it check out though. It's bloody scary watching your arm do strange things and then be in some pain too.

Hendrytastic · 15/05/2018 21:42

OP I've had two implants, the first when my DS was 5 months old and it was very bruised and very painful for about a fortnight! I was shocked at how painful it was, considering I'd given birth fairly recently and was still riding my warrior wave, and when it was time to get it replaced last August, I was worried about going through it all again. However, second time round was completely fine, pain free within a few days, and hardly any bruising. I think the first time I'd done too much in lifting my DS (not that I had much choice!) in the days after having it implanted and did some damage, but three years on I didn't have as much heavy lifting.

I guess I'm saying once it's healed up, and if the implant works for you as a contraceptive in every other way, don't let this soreness put you off having another one when the time comes, I think you've just hurt it lifting your baby. Hope it feels better soon.

MyNameIsTotoro · 15/05/2018 21:46

I've had 3 implants over the years and remember that at least one of them busied horrifically and felt stabby for a few weeks.
