It was so painful to watch, we had to change channels. Almost all of the jokes fell so flat in the theatre! Actually cringed on her behalf as you could sense the discomfort.

The80sweregreat · 14/05/2018 11:28

Maybe it felt that way as the ones watching had already been there over an hour or so already and had enough of it all? at the end they put up the winners that they didnt broadcast, so its a long night for them all as it is, they were probably hot and just wanted the loo or a drink.
She wasnt that bad and looked happy enough with how it was going i thought, there are always going to be ones that dont laugh or find it amusing or whatever, there always is whoever is doing it.

I dislike the BAFTAs on principle. What other profession get a big fanfare and ceremony for just basically going and doing their ....err very well paid job!? Sorry, but I just can't stand the effing luvvies.

derxa · 14/05/2018 14:11

I was embarrassed for her.

The80sweregreat · 14/05/2018 16:03

I get the point that it’s an annual back slapping event for sure but I think it’s nice that the ones you don’t see get a mention at times - the back room girls and boys and the writers the ones who do the work! Must be a nice night out for them.

"Too much anti-men stuff. Imagine if it was the other way around."

It usually is!

Rudgie47 · 14/05/2018 18:18

Does anyone on here know her in real life? I bet shes a right PITA and full of herself.

The80sweregreat · 14/05/2018 18:45

I don’t mind sue ( never met her or know her) but I think it’s a case of ‘what you see is what you get’ with her. I like people like that! She serms very confident and I admire that too.

MonumentVal · 14/05/2018 20:09

I knew Mel and Sue a bit at uni. Lovely lasses, some of their comedy was excellent, some fell flat, some you had to be there for. Bit like now, really. Nice to see Mel managing a comeback after time out with wee children.

BertrandRussell · 14/05/2018 21:07

Were you in the same year as them, Val?

MonumentVal · 16/05/2018 14:49

No, they're a couple years older, but came back regularly to perform at the ADC and refine their material before going to Edinburgh /TV tests. Some other lads ended up in production for C4, which possibly helped.
