I’ve been seeing all these memes on Facebook about wether it’s called dinner or tea.... so what do you say...
I’ve always said dinner, if someone says tea. I’m gonna say a little milk and 2 sugars please 😊

My son is autistic and calls all meals lunch so now we all do. It's not even weird to use anymore Grin

BeefyCakes · 12/05/2018 20:53

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 12/05/2018 20:54

Breakfast, lunch and dinner. My DH says Breakfast, dinner and tea. Forever a petty argument in my house Grin

TheEgyptianKing · 12/05/2018 20:58

Supper

JustfiedandAncient · 12/05/2018 21:01

Tea. North West 😁

TalkFastThinkSlow · 12/05/2018 21:03

Dinner, South East

Tea is either the hot drink, or a meal / snack which is too late for lunch, and too late for dinner

TheBairnsMaw · 12/05/2018 21:05

Tea here in Scotland.

ohcecelia · 12/05/2018 21:06

I'm in the north west, it's breakfast, lunch and tea for me!

PeonyTruffle · 12/05/2018 21:08

Another one from the SE saying dinner!

Leeds2 · 12/05/2018 21:13

Another from south east saying dinner. My parents in Yorkshire say tea.

Always used to be dinner ladies, school dinners and dinner money though. Think they are known as lunchtime supervision assistants these days. Have heard of school lunches. Never lunch money yet though!

unintentionalthreadkiller · 12/05/2018 21:16

We have dinner. The kids have tea when they eat before us. My mother has supper.

SE.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 12/05/2018 21:17

SE, dinner
DP from midlands and says tea, it's a running joke in our house!

JenBarber · 12/05/2018 21:20

Don't think I say either. Pretty sure I call every meal 'food'.

I like my big meal first thing. I was eating a pizza at about 8am today.

Pimmsypimms · 12/05/2018 21:20

If we go out, it’s for dinner, but at home, it’s tea. We’re in the East Mids.

GameTiles · 12/05/2018 21:22

Tea is at 5 for kids, dinner is after 7. Supper is for posh twats, or actual supper before bed - warm milk and toast.

lifechangesforever · 12/05/2018 21:24

If you're in Yorkshire, it's tea!

ShatnersBassoon · 12/05/2018 21:27

St Matthew's meal. I've never heard it called anything else.

bananafish81 · 12/05/2018 21:29

Dinner is the main meal of the day, whether it's eaten in the middle of the day or the evening

Hence school dinners (hot food) served by dinner ladies - as the hot meal is the main meal of the day

A Sunday roast is the main meal of the day, as is a Xmas roast - so they're Sunday and Xmas dinner.

But sandwiches are a packed lunch - because it's assumed there will be a hot main meal in the evening

Most people wouldn't call a sandwich and packet of crisps a packed dinner

The main meal of the day is generally in the evening, so it's breakfast / lunch / dinner.

Tea is a light meal around 5-6 that a small child eats, if they eat separately from the adults.

Dinner is the main evening meal. 6pm onwards.

Restaurants have lunch and dinner menus

They don't have dinner and tea menus

ACAS and the UK government refer to the midday break for workers as a lunch break

CupofBeans · 12/05/2018 21:31

Tea, north west

Iloveacurry · 12/05/2018 21:32

The kids have tea, we have dinner later. South east x

sweetpotatoe · 12/05/2018 21:32

We say tea (north west) Smile

GameTiles · 12/05/2018 21:33

Yeah bananafish. And no supper, unless you're in an Enid Blyton book.
