To ask your experiences with testicular cancer

Obviously not directly, though any men on here please also feel free to chime in.

Husband's closest friend has just been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He's late 30's. Found the lump and went straight away to get checked. Thought it had been caught early but... it's already spread.

It's not looking good is it?

Husband is devastated at the thought of losing his best mate. How do I support him when he's supporting his other 'life partner' as we call him? How do I support him if the worst happens? They're as close if not closer than we are.

When I say 'how' I mean how best.

My husband was in his mid 20's when he had a sore bollock one Sunday and by Monday lunchtime it had been whipped out. It had spread too but he had great care and for about 6yrs after having regular checkups he got the all clear 2yrs ago. He had one round of chemo and 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy which really took its toll but he's here, a little lopsided but fighting fit. The op was 2 weeks before our wedding too so was all very stressful.
I reckon if they caught it early he's got an excellent chance. Treatment has moved on even since my husband was diagnosed so I would try not to worry.
Hugs.

Where has it spread to? Do you know what the proposed course of treatment is?

DH was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2009 when he was 33. He had an orchidectomy and was placed under observation. About a year later it was discovered that the cancer had spread to a lymph node in his chest and he had 3 rounds of chemotherapy. He's well passed the 5 year mark now and is "all clear".

Both times, we were assured by the urologist and oncologist that they expected DH's outcome to be good as he was young and otherwise fit and healthy.

Flowers to you, your husband and his friend.
