Have they changed it recently?
I'm sure they have, seems greasy!

Recommend me a good instant with no grease please!!

I've given up on instant, I use Lidl extra special coffee and a cafetiere.

Lilacwine1 · 11/05/2018 20:39

bluerunningshoes I haven't seen Lyons coffee bags, can you get them from any supermarket?

pigaletta · 11/05/2018 20:40

Another vote for Alta Rica, I love my coffee strong and it’s my favourite

ConciseandNice · 11/05/2018 20:41

Azera is fine if you want to drink instant. Lavazza now do an instant which is ok too.

EskSmith · 11/05/2018 20:56

Café direct fair trade machu pichu instant is really lovely, I often don't bother with the coffee machine just for me when we have this in.

LittleBird74 · 11/05/2018 21:30

They changed it when they changed the look of the jars. I don’t think it tastes different but I hate the gritty bit it now leaves in the cup at the end.

HoardingQueen · 11/05/2018 21:36

Kenco decaf is actually very nice, I love a strong coffee but not the jitters so enjoying this as a substitute, nicest decaf I have tried so far

Hohofortherobbers · 11/05/2018 21:39

Alta Rica. I don't like millicano , dowe egbrts or gold blend

Hoopaloop · 11/05/2018 21:40

Nescafe gold is still safe as fuck.

tccat · 11/05/2018 21:53

Douwe Egbert hazelnut coffee, the most delicious thing ever

MsFortunaMajor · 11/05/2018 22:02

For the poster that didn't like the look of the aeropress and the cleaning involved, I use one of these with paper filters - Melitta 102 Type Filter Cone for Making Filter Coffee www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BEVS3KM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tqG9AbM735GV8?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I hate the faff of cleaning a cafetiere. With a cone you just lift the paper filter and dispose of the coffee grounds. Lovely coffee every time and hardly any cleaning required.

Sparrowlegs248 · 11/05/2018 22:04

Azeera is nice.

blamethecat · 11/05/2018 22:06

Coffee bags. Lyons are nice but I've tried Taylor's too and it's pretty good. Much better than instant and less faff that making a pot.

Nakedavenger74 · 11/05/2018 22:08

Is it just me that thinks instant coffee tastes like burnt gravy?
Horrible!

beyondthesky · 11/05/2018 22:16

L'or Carte Noir or Kenco decaf here.

bluerunningshoes · 11/05/2018 22:19

I usually get the coffe bags at waitrose, but have seen them in other large major supermarkets.

dietcokemango · 11/05/2018 22:26

They added 3% ground coffee (just checked the back of the jar I have for the exact percentage and comments on their sponsored post I keep seeing on FB are far from complimentary.

dietcokemango · 11/05/2018 22:26

Missed a closing parenthesis there, sorry.

Everexpandingwaistline · 11/05/2018 22:27

Lyons coffee bags I buy mine from Tescos, Morrison's or Sainsbury's.
@Lilacwine1

MadeForThis · 11/05/2018 22:43

L'or is decent instant coffee

Yumyumpigs · 11/05/2018 22:51

I get Tesco gold blend. Have you tried yiur supermarket version? I got hold blend recently while away and it wasn't as nice! Thank God it was a teensy tiny travel jar!

Lilacwine1 · 11/05/2018 22:57

Lyons coffee bags. I have added them to my delivery, from Tesco. Looking forward to trying them.

e1y1 · 11/05/2018 23:03

EVERYTHING from Nescafé is utter utter shit, except the “Alta Rica” variant, this is WITHOUT exception; and until Mondelez/Kraft (sold their soul to the devil) offloaded Carte Noire to the Douwe Edgberts company who then promptly discontinued it and renamed it to the shite that is L’Or (big :() I wouldn’t touch anything Nescafé.

But due to above, the only 2 I can recommend is Alta Rica or L’Or “intense” the back and purple themed one, not the black and gold themed one (it is the one that is closest to Carte Noire).

I’ve never cried when a product has been discontinued, but came extremely close when CN was, drank it forever.

e1y1 · 11/05/2018 23:05

Lyons coffee bags

Oh I tried them a few times 20 or so years back, they were good, I may have to try them again. I’ve never seen them as wouldn’t have looked.

Something for next shop.

walchesterweasel · 11/05/2018 23:13

Carte d'Or fan here , but since the re-brand and price doubling it tastes awful to boot. Agree about the Intense variety , that's still good. Recently tried Nescafe and definitely something changed, it does leave a film around inside of cup
