To ask does dd need to go to A and E

Dd burnt herself at 6pm but didn’t bother to mention it to me until now. Nhs online is confusing about whether medical attention is needed for burns that blister.
Any advice really appreciated.

If it relevant dd is autistic and doesn’t feel pain the same way as others might.

Ring 111

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 08/05/2018 23:04

Is it bigger than her thumbnail?

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/05/2018 23:04

They always say A and E without fail though, would rather not disturb her if not necessary.

Ooh that looks nasty. I can’t really tell from the photo whether it is a blister or a gaping sore? Although some time has elapsed it is worth going through the whole regime of running cool water for some time to cleanse and cool. Don’t put anything oil based on.

applesandpears56 · 08/05/2018 23:05

No - they might just give advice on how to dress it etc

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/05/2018 23:06

Yes it’s a bit bigger than her thumbnail maybe about the size of her dads.

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/05/2018 23:06

Yes it’s a blister looks really painful, feel awful she never told me earlier so it hasn’t been under cold water at the time.

Ignore that remark lol I don't know what I was thinking.

It doesn't look that bad to be honest. A clean bandage around it ought to be ok. How old is she and what part of her body is it?

Fruitcorner123 · 08/05/2018 23:07

111 can refer you to the out of hours GP. I would try that.

Puffycat · 08/05/2018 23:07

Have you got any sudcreme? If you go to A n E tonight with a blister you’ll be there all night!😳
Take her to GP tomorrow

Jinglebells99 · 08/05/2018 23:07

Reading that, I would say yes. Poor thing, that will be very painful.

SparklyLeprechaun · 08/05/2018 23:08

Minor injuries rather than A&E, I'd take her to have it dressed, if it bursts it can get infected easily.

Mrscog · 08/05/2018 23:08

I think I’d leave it and see how it is in the morning - it looks nasty but small.

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/05/2018 23:09

Yes we put Sudacrem on it after the picture. Good point about 111 refers g to out of hours GP could try that.

Rachie1973 · 08/05/2018 23:09

I wouldn't go for that to be honest. I'd dress it, keep it clean and an eye on it for infection.

Then again, I'm 6 kids in and a leg has to be falling off to get me to A & E

treeofhearts · 08/05/2018 23:09

Imo that should be ok. Cold water on it regularly and wait for it to go down. I'd be inclined to lance it myself but you probably shouldn't. Keep it out of the sun.

bbpp · 08/05/2018 23:10

Don't apply creams, just keep clean

Jinglebells99 · 08/05/2018 23:10

You can get a burn gel from boots that’s useful to have in the medicine cupboard. I would think that burn will keep her awake with the pain. I’d go to a and e. How old is she?

SickOfThisShitNow · 08/05/2018 23:10

I had a blister once exactly the same when I was about 6 or 7. It wasn't painful at all. The only thing you mustn't do is purposely pop it as that will open it up to possible infection. The liquid inside is keeping the burn clean.

Mine was popped by an aunt and it made a small scar that now, 30 years later is still there.

Keep it clean. If you want, put some antiseptic cream on and pop a bandage or large plaster over it.

Knitjob · 08/05/2018 23:12

My ds had a similar blister when he spilled a pot noodle on his hand. We went to the pharmacist who gave us some dressings and told us to look out for infection. So I wouldn't go to a&e or anything but I would go to a pharmacist in the morning.

delilahbucket · 08/05/2018 23:13

Don't put any creams or lotions on it, but cover it with a clean, dry dressing. Change the dressing a few times a day but keep it covered. It will heal but will leave a scar.

MissReginaPhilange · 08/05/2018 23:13

Sudocrem and cling film it . Should be better after a day or two

BuntyII · 08/05/2018 23:14

Surely sudocrem is the worst thing to put on a burn?

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/05/2018 23:14

She is 13 Jingle, but she feels pain differently because of her asd so it’s hard to tell how painful it should be. Glad your wasn’t painful Sickof.
I think I will check on her again put a clean bandage on it and take her to minor injuries first thing.
Thanks for all the advice.
