6 month old given used dirty beer glass

Ok so I need to know if my reaction to this situation is normal.

I have a 6 month old son who is obsessed with drinking glasses. If you have one he wants it and wants to chew and drink from it - he's actually pretty good at drinking from a glass.

At a family event this weekend a close member of family was holding my son when I wasn't there but my husband and other close family and friends were there. I was in the bathroom.

I came out to find my son holding (with help) a used pint glass that had about half an inch of beer in the bottom and all the froth still up the sides inside. My son was having a whale of a time chewing and licking the inside and outside of the glass.

What would your reaction have been? Angry? Ignore it? Exasperation? Amusement? Or just meh?

I just wouldn't put a baby and a glass together under any circumstances Confused That's what plastic kids drinking cups are for, it doesn't have to be a sippy cup/lidded bottle cup. But even with supervision it's asking for trouble to put a baby and a glass together.

As for the beer glass, yes that's completely unnecessary.

Please reconsider your stance on letting him drink from an actual glass no matter how well you are supervising though. I really don't want to sound patronising but I have to assume it's your 1st DC? I'm three DCs in and there are certain things that just don't go hand in hand with kids, particularly babies.

Go nc with your mil. That's what you want someone to say, isn't it?

My kids were both cup grabbers too. Get him a doidy cup and take it everywhere with you and hopefully he'll be happy to have his own special cup and leave everyone elses alone! My kids practiced drinking from it while in the bath (from the tap, not bath water!) at a similar age to your son.

I'm thinking a family member was drinking from the glass and then held your child, who reached out and also wanted to drink from the glass... although it's not a good idea to let babies drink from glasses (as they could break it), I wouldn't be worried at all about the cup being used or the froth tbh... But I also think water straight from a tap is fine...
