Giving something free on FB - being asked to post for cost?

I'm giving some items my DD has outgrown on FB. They are in good condition. Someone's asked me whether I could post them to her if she pays postage. However, I don't want to. I've never posted items before and not sure about payment method (haven't got PayPal).

I'm giving them free, if someone could make use of them, they can collect from my house. I just don't want to go through the hassle of going to the post office.

If she doesn't collect, I can drop it off at the charity shop which is on the way.

So would it be unreasonable to tell her that I can't be arsed with the hassle?

I have told people in the past that I can't be bothered and just wanted items off my hassle free

DSHathawaysLover · 08/05/2018 14:29

Just say no, you need the item gone and can't get to the post office.
This really bugs me, along with "Can you deliver?" I'm giving the item away for free, make some effort!

Why wouldn’t you say no?

Storm4star · 08/05/2018 14:34

I don’t think the person was in the wrong to ask, I mean if you don’t ask you never know! But equally your also not wrong to say no. My nearest post office is in a very inconvenient location, and none near my work so I wouldn’t want to post anything either.

She's free to ask the question and you are free to say yay or nay.

IRefuseToAgree · 08/05/2018 14:40

Of course you can say no! 😂

Ironfloor · 08/05/2018 14:41

Thanks. That's what I thought.

@ohyesiam - I felt bad to say no at first because she did offer to pay. She may have even agreed to pay extra for the hassle of going to a post office, I don't know.

It's not cheeky to ask, it's not unreasonable to say no.
