To remind you NOT to leave dogs in cars

I'm sure no one on here is daft enough to do this but all the same

please don't leave your dogs in the car

They can suffer heatstroke incredibly easy. I can't believe in this day and age people are still doing it.

If you see a dog in a car suffering call 999. You CAN smash the window if you think the owner will consent but be careful as you can be prosecuted for criminal damage if the owner feels like doing so

It amazes me that every year people need reminding. I live in a holiday area where people bring their dogs on holiday then leave them in the car while they visit an attraction. I won't leave mine in the car while I nip in a shop for milk even if I know it will take minutes.

Bump up for the late morning crowd

I would quite happily break a window if it saves a dogs life.

BuntyII · 08/05/2018 10:47

Just ring the police and they'll smash the window if needed.

UserV · 08/05/2018 10:50

I know. I still cannot believe people do it.

Even when it's only around 16-18 degrees C, it can be up to 28 C in the car.

I would happily smash someone's window if I saw a dog in there - alone.

People are arseholes. I had to call the police last year because someone left a dog in a supermarket car park...it was 'only' 13 degrees outside but having just driven my car i was aware how stuffy it was. Little fluffy thing, no water & no windows open. At all. Supermarket staff refused to put a tannoy announcement out because it wasn't 'hot enough' 😡

Soubriquet · 08/05/2018 11:06

Everyone (well those with common sense) is aware of heat but didn't you know you shouldn't leave your dog in a car if it's very cold either.

They can hypothermia and become very poorly

Brilliant post!

Also, RSPCA/SSPCA are useless in emergencies and the only appropriate response is to call 999 POLICE and video the car, dog, get a weather report on a phone and video that then smash window, ideally on video to prevent any dispute.

Leaving a car window or two cracked down an inch or two does absolutely nothing to cool the car down. Don't do it!

Either park in full shade if you must for a very brief period or leave the dog at home.

There's videos online of how quickly a car heats up using ice and a thermometer.

People are really thick.

Soubriquet it amazes me how many people don't know that too. Cars are hardly the most insulated tin cans
