I'm sitting on a train travelling from Scotland to London. I'm at a pre booked table seat. The train is full and the table is fully occupied.
The woman oppposite me has her legs extended so that her feet are practically under my seat.
Naturally, I'm being very British and non confrontational. I've tried the "accidental" kick of the foot and even engaged a hard stare but to no avail. She has her headphones on and is closing her eyes so its difficult to get her attention.
Please help to encourage me to grow a pair, tell me I'm being unreasinable or amuse me with some creative ways to deal with it.
I still have three more hours of this journey to endure...

You'll need to ask her. You can't kick or scrape her deliberately, that's battery.

RoseWhiteTips · 07/05/2018 14:08

As others have said, tap her arm lightly to get her attention and ask her if she would mind moving her into her own area.she knows full well what she is doing.

RoseWhiteTips · 07/05/2018 14:08

...area. She knows...

FindoGask · 07/05/2018 14:09

This is why I never sit at a table.

FindoGask · 07/05/2018 14:09

(on a train, of course, I'm not averse to tables at other times)

People like her are the reason I prefer animals

Emma198 · 07/05/2018 14:20

I'd be giving her a swift kick and then a sweet smile and a "oh gosh I'm so sorry was that your foot? I didn't realise."

KeepServingTheDrinks · 07/05/2018 14:32

Is it deeply sad that I want to know what you did?

OneStepSideways · 07/05/2018 14:36

Take your shoe off and rub her leg with your toes. Or use her as a footrest as you mistook her for your bag. Or accidentally kick her until she moves them.

florascotia2 · 07/05/2018 14:37

Ideally just ask, calmly and pleasantly.

If you don't want to do that, then drop something - handbag, book, pen, handkerchief etc - seemingly by accident on the floor in your own seat's foot space, but close to her feet. Look for it urgently and busily. Once she's moved her feet, sit back down asap and put your feet in the place they should be.

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 07/05/2018 15:05

Also want to know what happened.

The whole point is to do it 'by accident' 😂

In the past I've stuck a pen in the arm of someone who had their arm right over into my seat, so I was jammed up against the window. Lightly at first, then I leaned on it more and more heavily until they got uncomfortable and moved. Fuck 'em, they're in your space.

userabcname · 07/05/2018 15:15

Put your legs up on the table with your feet in her face. Bet she will move then.

BMW6 · 07/05/2018 15:17

Put your legs up on her thighs and smile salaciously......

Thought this thread said “trans etiquette” ... that’s when you know you’ve been on MN too long Grin
