My DP went to london yesterday for a concert in Brixton which is a 4-5 hour train journey away from where we live he's gone on his own and I asked to him to text me and let me know that he got to his hotel ok after the concert because this concert wasn't finishing until 2am and I haven't heard anything off him since he was at the concert IABU to be sitting here worrying about him I don't want to be that crazy girlfriend that rings round all the hospitals but I didn't think it was too much to ask that he just let me know that he was safe. Am I being stupid sitting here worrying about him should I just go and get some sleep and try not to worry too much.

It happens. I wouldn't worry.

Idontdowindows · 07/05/2018 10:30

Everything ok this morning OP?

Littlemuster · 07/05/2018 11:23

Brixton is a really bad area. I would also have asked for a text at that time of night but would have specified not to attempt using his phone on the street.
I hope all is okay, OP!

SparklyMagpie · 07/05/2018 11:28

You alright OP? Hope you managed to get some sleep and you've heard from him

TheHonSaucyJane · 07/05/2018 11:39

Brixton was a bad area years ago. It's been pretty much gentrified now, like anywhere else with any actual Londoners and character.

4am really isn't that late to be out in London IMO - before we had kids, I would often not finish until about 6! It's so big and there's so many people and bars that serve all night. Add on a hangover preventative breakfast and you're looking at an all-nighter, easily done.

Of course he could have texted at any point, but he may well have run out of battery or just been having a laugh with his mates. Hopefully he's turned up by now with a massive headache and a phone full of pics!

Bloody heck Brixton is not a bad area. I have lived in London for over 20yrs and have never felt unsafe in Brixton. It has been gentrified over the years but it has a great vibe. Very popular. Don't use your phone on the street? Jesus I have had more problems with kids trying to snatch phones in the local park than in Brixton at night! I am sure your OH is fine OP, phone out of charge and probably fell asleep when he popped it onto charge.

Was it the Scooter gig? My brother went to that last night and he said it was absolutely buzzing.

Have you heard anything?

Littlemuster · 07/05/2018 12:44

Eile - hmmm, I have relatives that have lived there for 10+ years and have recently spent alot of time there myself.
Everyone's experience is different, I guess.

I always found Brixton at midnight coming back from gigs to be safer than many town centres at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/05/2018 12:55

You spoken to him now, OP?

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 07/05/2018 13:10
