Ebay feedback

Sold two items about 2 weeks ago ... in particular one of the items I went above and beyond to get item delivered specifically for user before the date expected as she wanted it quickly ... heard nothing from either buyer about problem with items... so AIBU to expect feedback ?
I think it really helps sellers to get decent feedback (and of course helps buyers if negative feedback is left so they can see what kind of seller it is)

Feed back is not compulsory and don't go asking for it, the buyer can neg you, but you cant neg back.

Atthebottomofthesea · 06/05/2018 17:53

I honestly forget to do it fairly often.

MsHopey · 06/05/2018 17:53

I always try to give Feedback.
I do an awful lot more buying than I do selling (sorry DH) and pretty much never receive feedback.
It's a bit crap, but not alot we can do about it. Emails chasing feedback are annoying though so I wouldn't recommend it.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 06/05/2018 17:54

Unfortunately I think people just don’t leave feedback as much these days. I blame eBay as the app (which I assume most people use these days) makes it quite fiddly to leave feedback and it doesn’t prompt you to do so.

RoseWhiteTwat · 06/05/2018 17:55

CBA with it.

Bought a thing
Paid for a thing
Few days later it arrives

What's the seller wanting? A bloody bottle of Prosecco or something?

Mollie85 · 06/05/2018 17:56

I spend my life shopping on Amazon or eBay. Easily thirty items a month (small items, etc) mostly as I have social anxiety and don’t like being out in public. I will leave feedback on all those items about once a month in one go. (eBay has made that easier now). Smile

(Suddenly wonders if it’s me Hmm )

WhiteCoyote · 06/05/2018 17:57

I tend to not give feedback for months at a time then do them all in one go.

Cheto · 06/05/2018 17:57

@RoseWhiteTwat I think that's a bloody good idea Smile

I don't give feedback on eBay because their feedback policy is completely unfair. I can't give negative feedback as a seller and until that changes I won't be giving feedback full stop.

Fresta · 06/05/2018 18:05

Some people treat eBay as if it's a shop these days. Buyers always used to leave feedback but not anymore. It's just complacency, lack of consideration for the seller and laziness. It's nice to leave positive feedback for a seller if they are just ordinary people making a little extra cash on the side- it helps them appear higher on listings, it gives other buyers the confidence to buy from them, it lets the seller know the item arrived safely etc. No reason not to.

SquatDiddly · 06/05/2018 18:07

Ebay feedback annoys me because of the way most people do it.

Buyer buys something, pays straight away. Buyer has done their bit of the transaction.
Feedback should be left for the buyer to say that.
Item arrives, all good.
Then feedback should be left for the seller.

What happens is that most of the time sellers wait for buyers to leave feedback for them before they leave buyers feedback. It's the wrong way round imo.

I buy a lot on ebay and have sold, I always leave feedback by the way.

pasturesgreen · 06/05/2018 18:07

YABU. People are busy, leaving feedback is pretty down their list of priorities. I sell on both Etsy and ebay, I reckon I receive feedback on about a third of my transactions. It actually suits me fine: if a buyer is unhappy for whatever reason, you'll hear about it soon enough. No news really does mean good news here.

Amber0685 · 06/05/2018 18:08

Only when the seller asks, I would if I had a bad experience.

Curiousmoi · 06/05/2018 19:02

I sold an item to someone and today they messaged me to say they won't leave me feedback until I've left them feedback! Silly c*w! Im not going to leave any now!
I'm the seller!
The buyer should always leave feedback first.

Mousefunky · 06/05/2018 19:09

When I was on mat leave I had more time on my hands so would do this but now I’m working FT I just never remember.

Don’t be one of the sellers who asks for feedback either, no one likes those sellers.

SquatDiddly · 06/05/2018 19:35

I'm the seller!*
The buyer should always leave feedback first.

Why? Genuinely curious.

The buyer has paid for their item, that's their part of the deal done. Did they pay in a timely manner? If yes then absolutely you should leave them feedback saying that.

Curiousmoi · 06/05/2018 20:19

@SquatDiddly
Because there could be an issue with the item on their end i.e. didn't arrive or has a fault, and at the point the seller has left feedback, the buyer could then leave feedback bashing you.
It's then too late for you to leave more feedback for them, if that makes sense.
It's happened to me before and was a nightmare, I left feedback for the buyer first, they waited and then lied about the item.
eBay had to remove their feedback from my account.

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 20:22

It dies irk me when I get messaged about feedback. I know I should do it but it’s essy to forget

isseywithcats · 06/05/2018 20:24

i run a charity ebay page and probably sell around 60-70 items a month and get maybe 3 or 4 feed backs a week,i dont chase anyone for feedback, but it does give people an idea of what a seller is like, and no to avoid problems after feedback i wait till someone gives me feedback before i leave it for them, anyone with a problem usually messages so i sort out problems via messenger

ToadOfSadness · 06/05/2018 20:41

I would prefer not to have feedback than to get complaints and defects from people who have no idea how it works and that they can damage your account for something that is not your fault ie: postman fails to leave a card so buyer doesn't know attempted delivery has happened, eventually asks where item is, you chase it up with Royal Mail and arrange for it to be delivered.

It arrives and buyer leaves good feedback but marks down the bloody postage time and gives you a defect even though it was posted the day it was paid for. Avoid this by using signed for post, only to get a whinge about it needing a signature and a low star for something else for a brand new item which was fully described.

If only people would read the site rules and consequences.

OreoMini · 06/05/2018 20:44

Honestly, I just forget and can’t be bothered most of the time.

I paid for my item, it’s arrived. Job done.
