I'm definitely being unreasonable browsing mumsnet instead of being out in the sun, but please could someone explain the difference between "I'm on" and "I'm watching", and also please could someone tell me how to bookmark a thread without posting a comment?

Thank you! Smile

If you look at the top of a thread you can click on "Watch this thread" (the watch is in blue on mine) and it means you can keep an eye on it without having posted. "I'm on" is the ones you've posted on.

'On' means you've posted. 'Watch' means you've clicked 'Watch this thread' so you can find it easily, without actually posting on it.
Is that what you're trying to do?

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 06/05/2018 14:32

Not sure about bookmarking, though, but that would probably be the same as watching it.

MrsHathaway · 06/05/2018 14:32

You can watch a thread without posting on it and vice versa.

You have to have bookmarks turned on in your account preferences.

Not everything always works perfectly on all platforms ...

How are you using Mumsnet? Device/operating system/platform eg mobile/iOS/ap or laptop/Windows/Chrome...

fourpawswhite · 06/05/2018 14:32

I'm on - you have posted on.

I'm watching - you may or may not have posted on but want to watch the thread so you can find it again easily.

To watch, slide the blue bar at the top to the side and click watch this thread.

To bookmark select the post where you have read to and slide it and click book mark.

This is for iPad. On phone it's the down arrow to watch and the three dots to bookmark.

Brilliant! Thank you everyone.

So if it's so easy to bookmark / watch a thread why do people "shamelessly placemark" or post nothing but a full stop? Confused

Well, to quote myself, Not everything always works perfectly on all platforms ...

Also many people find that you don't get the deletion message if you haven't actively placemarked.
