To think I’ve Made a total fool of myself haven’t I?

Loveshinealight332 · 05/05/2018 17:07

Went out with my friend today to the seaside.
I hate fairground rides like rollercoasters etc.
My friend begged and pleaded with me to go on.
I hate them so much but I agreed.
Got on this ride which swung up high and to the side then upside down.
I was terrified I was gasping for air, couldn’t breath.
It was the worst feeling ever,my heart started missing beats.
My friend was laughing saying wait till I put this on Facebook.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the scariest feeling of my life.
Did I make a total show of myself?

I literally stick to the dodgems and ghost train.
I can’t stand things that go around or fast or back or anything where my feet are off the ground.

You couldn't pay me enough to go on one of those rides. Lots of people don't like them, or get vertigo/motion sickness, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in that.

It's your 'friend' who's going to look bad, not you, if she tries to shame you on social media.

Talith · 05/05/2018 17:51

I went on The Big One at Blackpool because the hen wanted to and none of the other much smarter women on the hen do would join her. I had my eyes closed the whole time and it strained a muscle in my neck for weeks. You're a kind friend and anyone who finds it funny can fuck off. Flowers

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/05/2018 17:54

I LOVE rollercoasters and scary stuff. Bungee jumps, zip lining, all that stuff.

I wouldn't laugh at you. I hope you wouldn't laugh at me hyperventilating in planes! I would judge your friend very much.

Gottagetmoving · 05/05/2018 17:57

I think you were really brave to go on the ride.
I feel exactly the same on those and couldn't go on one at any price!
You didn't make a show of yourself. You reacted to how you felt and that's normal. Your friend is selfish and horrible.

goose1964 · 05/05/2018 17:58

Those rides are scarier than they look. I think you were brave on it.P people really underestimate how awful fairground rides are to some people

Kettlepotblack · 05/05/2018 18:01

Not at all! You were terrified, still went on and your friend takes the piss out of you? How are you the one feeling bad?

WrongOnTheInternet · 05/05/2018 18:12

Not a nice friend. However, speaking as someone who has made a total fool of themselves more times than they care to remember, look at it this way - at least you're entertaining. Make 'em laugh.

NutElla5x · 05/05/2018 18:16

You should be proud of yourself for having a go.But don't be too hard on your friend for not understanding how genuinely terrified you were and laughing at you.If she goes against your will and put a vid up on Facebook however, you'd be right to be pissed off at her.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/05/2018 18:16

Dh has never liked them. I used to but can’t do them anymore. Your friend is a Pratt if she thinks it’s ok to ridicule you on fb.

jarhead123 · 05/05/2018 18:21

Agree with everyone else. Your friend is a dick.

boywiththebrokensmile2 · 05/05/2018 18:22

Relax, you did not make a fool of yourself, it was a bit of light fun-laugh it off, I have the exact same fear of mice and have had bad reactions and my friends take the piss of me. Laugh it off and it will be forgotten, Also be cautious of the advise here as ppl go way ott and make your friends sound like serial killers when it was a bit of fun.

boywiththebrokensmile2 · 05/05/2018 18:27

''She is a totally cunt and bully and definately not your friend.

Dont allow her to make you think her behaviour is ok and its your problem''

Would you get a grip you drama queen, her friend was having a bit of fun with her and winding her up-friends do this, jesus take a chill pill.

buttercup54321 · 05/05/2018 18:30

Never mind. You were very brave to have a go. Now find something she hates. Make her try it and video it this time xx

Wotrewelookinat · 05/05/2018 18:38

She’s not your friend and you allowed yourself to be pressurised into doing something. Time to find a new friend methinks.

mamansnet · 05/05/2018 18:50

I had something similar happen to me once. If she tries to ridicule/humiliate you by putting it on FB, I'd be ending the friendship.

supersop60 · 05/05/2018 18:51

Shit friend. Next time, say no, and mean it. She will respect you more.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 05/05/2018 19:08

No your the one that needs to get a grip.

The theres having fun, and then theirs making someone feel absolute shit, that they blame themselves and come on an intetnet forum looking for validation of how stupid theyve been.

If you enjoy making your friends feel humilated, like their very ok phobia is something to be ashamed of then i suggest you well grow up.

NutElla5x · 05/05/2018 19:19

boywiththebrokensmile2
I'd be surprised if half the posters on here have friends, considering how unforgiving and humourless they appear.Take pity on them.

Aeroflotgirl · 05/05/2018 19:22

That is no friend at all, very nasty

Sparklesocks · 05/05/2018 19:25

You were really brave to do something that scares you for your friend’s benefit and they made fun of you for it, which even if they didn’t intend is quite mean spirited.

It’s happened now and nobody else was there so you certainly didn’t embarrass yourself, but if they do post something unflattering you should just ignore it. Or if you like, comment something light hearted yet pointed like ‘I only went on as you begged and begged and were too frightened to go by yourself! Great day though Smile

Kettlepotblack · 05/05/2018 19:25

She is a totally cunt and bully and definately not your friend.

Woah. You have made all sorts of assumptions about a persons character based on one version of a small event in someone's life described on the internet.

I don't think the OP should feel bad and the friend has been very insensitive but jeez....

Upsy1981 · 05/05/2018 19:38

I used to get pressured too. Hate, hate, hate them! I'm happy I'm now too old and I don't care if I just keep saying no. Its the person pressuring you who should be worried they've made a fool of themselves.

saucepot8 · 05/05/2018 19:39

From the title I thought you may have wet yourself or vomited and it then fell back in your hair. Your friend is a twat. If they put it on Facebook they will show themselves up as a crap friend.

TiredMaofTwo · 05/05/2018 19:42

This is me. I would have been terrified. She is selfish and unable to put herself in someone's shoes.
