I'm getting totally unreasonably irritated by our neighbours guests parking in front of our house , not actually on the dropped curb, so perfectly legally parked, but still irritating.
Why can't they just park if front of the house they are visiting? There is space.

Anyone else get unreasonably irritated by something like this?

Outside our house there is space for 2 carefully parked cars between our drop and ndn drop. My DH usually has his parked outside ours as he doesn't use it during the week, and neighbours down the road use the other. Works well until both are out and some idiot parks in the middle of the gap and neither have anywhere to go on their return. Again, not doing anything wrong as they are not marked bays, but really annoying.

toolonglurking · 05/05/2018 12:29

Yeah, chill and get a life. Sorry, but you own the house, not the street.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 05/05/2018 12:29

Our cf neighbour owns a car park at the side of her house (think 6 spaces) she keeps it locked - and empty - and takes up a space in the permit holder spaces which aren't allocated and are limited.

I think part of it is dissapointment that they have more guestsConfused

What the hell does it matter if someone parks legally on the road outside your house? As long as they are not blocking your driveway you are totally U and fucking ridiculous.

BewareOfDragons · 05/05/2018 12:38

As long as they're parking sensibly, and by that I mean not centering themselves across a space meant for 2 cars, then it's a public street I presume so yabu.

Sorry.

partdeux · 05/05/2018 12:41

I am bu.
I already admitted so in the op.
It was rather lighthearted
However now that reminds me that there was an instance when one of the guests mounted the pavement early (even before our house) and nearly run over DH who stepped out on the pavement.

Sorry OP, that drip feed is too little, too late.

Blizzardagain · 05/05/2018 18:10

I don't get why people are being so rude OP. I don't even have a Dropped kerb outside my house and I still don't like it when people park thereGrin

SilverHairedCat · 05/05/2018 18:11

Ugh, I used to have to deal with people like you when I was in the police - ringing to complain about people parking outside their house. Boring NIMBYs with nothing better to do, usually.

YABVVVVVU even if it is light hearted.

MyNewAlias · 05/05/2018 18:27

SilverySurfer it was hardly a drip feed! I do slightly get your drift OP. My neighbours have a drive with space for two cars, but they insist on parking in front of my house. Yes I know it is perfectly legal, but it does not stop me from feeling irritated by it.

bridgetreilly · 05/05/2018 19:03

A few weeks ago I parked completely legally on a street in front of someone's house. The house owner then came out and had a go at me for being inconsiderate: "What if I'd needed to get my caravan out?"

So I asked if he needed me to move the car, though it was several feet away from the dropped kerb and gate. He didn't. I genuinely couldn't work out what he wanted from me. He didn't need me to move the car. It was almost as if I was supposed to have asked him permission for parking on the street. Weird.

So, yes, OP, YABU. People can park in front of your house as much as they like.

Sparklesocks · 05/05/2018 19:04

YABU, and if you know you are I don’t really know what you wanted from the thread OP?
