Drone hovering over my garden for ages

A huge black thing. Garden very secluded and I’m in my bikini. This is the 3rd time this weekend.

It’s bloody creepy, AIBU to go find the air gun and shoot the fucker out of the sky. Or find the pervert flying it and shoot him instead Wink

It’s flying at the height of my house plus about 4 meters. There must be a law against that?

Have you got an old sheet and some black paint? FUCK OFF PERV should fit nicely on a double.

Phimosa · 05/05/2018 10:31

Ohhhh now that isn’t a bad idea!

Has flown off, will get a pic next time!

Definitely sounds like you have a pervy neighbour enjoying the view 😑 so wrong!
My DP had police knock on his door last week saying burglars are using drones in the area to scout out whether there is anything to steal, and if there is easy access into the houses from the back entrances etc. Not saying that’s what’s happening to you but I would definitely be shooting it with an air rifle if I had one lol

UpstartCrow · 05/05/2018 10:33

Get your own drone and have an epic air battle.

BackToTheFuschia7 · 05/05/2018 10:34

They aren’t allowed to be flown within 50 metres of a person or building. Although I suppose proving who is flying it would be a problem.

VanillaSugar · 05/05/2018 10:34

OmG frosty Shock I never thought of that. We have a drone that flies over our garden so I flick it the V until it goes away.

Babieseverywhere · 05/05/2018 10:35

It is illegal to use a drone in that way. So really the correct thing to do would be to report it to the local police station.

However I would be tempted to water the garden or paint a fence and if the drone gets accidentally covered, then maybe the operator might find another garden to fly over !

EggysMom · 05/05/2018 10:35

I know it sounds daft, but have you ever seen it in use locally when you're not in your bikini? Or were you not outside to notice? Amateur drone pilots are not experts, and what you call 'hovering' they might call 'I'll just put the r/c on the ground whilst I answer this text" Grin

Yes, it should be much higher than 4m above your house. And if they want to perv, height shouldn't matter as you can zoom in on the resultant footage ...

Rather than an air gun, I recommend a really good supersoaker water shooter. You'll get a good range on it, but it's totally defensible, you were just playing with your kids Smile Smile

Phimosa · 05/05/2018 10:37

We have a nerf super soaker

It does a few slow circles of the garden and then just stops mid air going up and down. Flies off and then comes back again.

Only noticed the first time because it sounds like a swarm of bees heading this way

GladAllOver · 05/05/2018 10:44

It is totally illegal to do this. Report it to the police.

snewname · 05/05/2018 10:47

Super soaker or a hose pipe.

snewname · 05/05/2018 10:47

Where are you that it's hot enough for a bikini?

Hillbillyhotel · 05/05/2018 10:48

Probably completely unrelated but, worth a mention - if you’ve got any pets bring them inside. My friend had the same happen to her and two days later her rabbit was killed by The Croydon Cat Killer.

GladAllOver · 05/05/2018 10:50

Dronecode:

Keep your drone within your line of sight and at amaximum height of 400ft(122m)Make sure your drone iswithin 500m from you horizontallyAlways fly your drone wellaway from aircraft, helicopters, airports and airfieldsIf fitted with a camera, a drone must be flown at last50m away from a person, vehicle, buildingor structure not owned or controlled by the pilot.Camera-equipped drones mustnot be flown within 150m of a congested areaor large group of people, such as a sporting event or concert

GladAllOver · 05/05/2018 10:50

Sorry about formatting loss!

UpstartCrow · 05/05/2018 10:51

Hang a sheet in your garden and project videos of drones crashing on to it.

GreyGardens88 · 05/05/2018 10:55

These things need banning for personal use, totally impossible to regulate their use

bookmum08 · 05/05/2018 10:55

Have you got any 14 year old male neighbours......

WomaninGreen · 05/05/2018 10:56

Is it legally okay to take it out with an air gun? It should be.

TheMaddHugger · 05/05/2018 10:57

definitely go with the super soaker. drown it. when the idiot that owns it turns up to rescue it you have the option of denying all knowledge of it or give them a long lesson in drone guidelines and ethics.... and then dont give it back

Phimosa · 05/05/2018 11:00

If it falls in my garden do I then own it? 🤔

OP posts:
Phimosa · 05/05/2018 11:01

There’s only 6 houses down my lane

Unless they’ve flown it across 4 fields from the village

No saying where I live but it’s lovely and hot here!

OP posts:
gameNight · 05/05/2018 11:02

If they're 50m away then it's legal.

If you cause damage to it then they are likely to have evidence of your criminal damage.

Go ahead. Accept the consequences.
