Hi, just the title really wondering if anybody has any experience with it? None of my friends have. Cant get into my regular hairdressers so considering giving it a go. Any ideas what you paid?

I have once before. Paid less than £20 for a quick trim. I normally do my hair myself but needed a bit extra tidying. They literally spent 5-10 minutes on it, did what I needed them to do

Tisfortired · 03/05/2018 22:09

When I last went was about ten years ago and I don't know if it is still the same - but they charge you depending on the length of your hair for some reason? So a straightforward trim of my mid length hair was £42!

I was a student and it was the first time I'd got my hair cut independent of my Mum and it was half my weekly wage at my bar job, I just paid it horrified and scuttled off Grin

IHaveACuntingPlan · 03/05/2018 22:10

Yes. They cut it in such a way that it was wonky. I never went back.

Growingboys · 03/05/2018 22:10

Yes, worst haircut I've EVER had. I was shocked at how bad a basic haircut could be!

TenancyTroublesAgain · 03/05/2018 22:11

Yes it was shit.

FASH84 · 03/05/2018 22:11

Yeah, I have long thick curly hair, they charged £50, I'd paid less in RUSH the time before for a better cut. Friends who have short or fine hair seem to have used it for a quick trim for less than half that so I guess it depends.

JaneyGotAGun · 03/05/2018 22:12

Yes for the first time last month. I couldn’t get an appointment at my usual salon so thought I’d give it a go.
It was a no frills experience (usually I get offered a cup of tea and a head massage) but actually turned out to be a decent cut.

I paid £27 for a cut & blowdry

Drainedandconfused · 03/05/2018 22:12

Yep, the stylist in the Portsmouth branch gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had, she was a rare breed of stylist who actually knew how to cut curly hair properly. DS went there for cuts for many years, the stylist had a disabled brother and knew how to deal with my very difficult son with huge amounts of patience.
Can’t remember the exact cost but it was around £20 for a cut.

Some tips if you want to try them:

If you can arrive at the salon just before opening time, you miss the 40-50 minute waiting time that can build up during the day.

They won’t touch dirty hair so go freshly washed.

Look at the professional hair care that’s for sale in the salon, it was usually cheaper.

Don’t expect too much chit chat or service, you are literally on a conveyor belt, they speed through clients.

Cheek and cheerful but in my experience a very good service.

delilahbucket · 03/05/2018 22:13

Yes and it was the worst cut I have ever had. You get what you pay for.

Puddlejumps · 03/05/2018 22:15

Where are you looking to go? The salons are franchises but some do have decent hairstylists l. You just can’t book appointments

KimberlyS2 · 03/05/2018 22:15

Can’t remember what I paid but it was dreadful. I used it a few times and it was OK at first but the last time she really messed up, I wear my hair up a lot so hasn’t noticed how bad it was for a couple of days. Managed to get in with a local hairdresser who tidied it up for about the same price as supercuts.

honeylulu · 03/05/2018 22:16

Yes took my daughter there at weekend. They did a good job - fringe, General trim and a bit of shaping for £10.95 . (She had butchered her hair after getting hold of some scissors at nursery.)
Good not needing appointment. Bad the time you can spend in the queue. This last time we went armed with portable dvd player for her and book for me.
Oh and they also played Michael Jackson on a loop which got a bit wearing!

Lemoncurd · 03/05/2018 22:16

I did before our local branch closed down. Remember being turned away a few times by grumpy hairdresser saying that she was on her own and too busy.
Was also slightly alarmed by the drops of fresh blood all over the floor!

EB123 · 03/05/2018 22:17

Yes, dh convinced me it would be ok to have our ds's hair trimmed there. DS2 had a fringe at the time and they cut it really short and wonky, it was awful!

SomeRandomBird · 03/05/2018 22:20

Yep it's fine. Half head of highlights and a trim is about £60 and you can't really tell the difference from any other salon charging £100+. Maybe the dye they use isn't great quality but bleach is bleach right?

busybuildingdens · 03/05/2018 22:23

Yes, years ago. It really wasn’t a great haircut, and my standards aren’t very high!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2018 22:29

I do , I float between three branches depending on where I am.
I cannot be arsed booking, I need my hair cut every 5 weeks and sometimes my scalp is too sensitive and flakey (I think psoriasis type if I've had a stressed week)
I go in with freshly washed sometimes slightly damp hair and have a dry cut.
I don;t like having my head touched, I don't like the coffee 'n'pamper idea so it suits me .

BertBox · 03/05/2018 22:30

Years ago - it wasn't great. I mainly remember the guy blow drying the same section of hair over and over and over again - I had to tell him to stop in the end.

I've found a local place now that I never have to book, don't have to have my hair washed, very little chit-chat, does exactly what I want and charges twenty quid. It's great.

Glumglowworm · 03/05/2018 22:30

I use them, I have easy and boring hair though, it’s more or less straight and I’m lazy with it so usually have it all one length these days.

If I wanted a more creative or difficult style I’d pay more for a better hair stylist. But for what I want they’re fine.

Breakfastofmilk · 03/05/2018 22:31

Yes I go regularly as I've found the haircuts as good (if not better) than places that charge double. Usually pay £25 for a wash and cut. My local one will trim without the wash for less but not a full cut.

AllyMcBeagle · 03/05/2018 22:33

Once. It was the worst haircut ever. The hairdresser kept yelling at customers across the other side of the store about where they should wait whilst washing my hair, spent the whole time she was cutting my hair trying to sell me products and criticising my hair, and then the haircut looked crap at the end of it.

Even if you're desperate for a cut I would honestly just wait.

SquatBetty · 03/05/2018 22:55

Yes went to our local one once. The cut was actually very good. Have not been back though as can't be arsed with the waiting around.

MrsLaurac · 03/05/2018 22:59

Hi all, i would be going to the nottingham branch. From the vibe im getting here a good cut seems to be a rarity might be worth just holding out!

mummabubs · 03/05/2018 23:00

Yes, in Reading about 10 years ago as it was all I could afford as a student- rubbish haircut and never went back! Literally did it in 5 minutes 😬

kateclarke · 03/05/2018 23:01

I had a really weird experience with them as a teenager.

The hairdresser gave me highlights and really pulled my hair. I had tears streaming down my face and looked in the mirror to see her looking a strange mixture of happy and angry.

Goodness knows why I didn’t say anything, I just froze and was in disbelief.

I have had highlights many many times since, and have never experienced anything like it.
