it's always something deeply unimpressive too isn't it, like putting their head on the floor and calling it a headstand even though feet firmly on ground. or lying on back kicking feet a la dead fly.

never anything particularly child-prodigy worthy.

mine are wrecking the living room and I am hiding.

lou33 · 15/05/2007 18:32

yanbu

paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 18:32

aaawwww They are just trying to make you proud

stoppinattwo · 15/05/2007 18:32

Oh twigg.............ikwym,

As a rule I watch once, unless they feck up and then i will give them another run through, but after you have watched someone do 10 skips for the nth time yes it does get dull

WelshBoris · 15/05/2007 18:33

I don't want to play with your Dora jigsaws.

I don't want to watch you touch your belly button.

I don't want to let you change your knickers 6 times a day.

I want to choose a holiday destination and laugh at random strangers on the internet.

Hilllary · 15/05/2007 18:33
Grin
paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 18:33

You should make them watch you hoovering or something

stoppinattwo · 15/05/2007 18:33

lol WB.......classic honesty

mrsflowerpot · 15/05/2007 18:36

lol paula, that's a great idea.

WATCH ME, no not the television, no not your lego, WATCH ME, I want you to WATCH ME put the different attachment on to do the skirting boards.

actually might try that with dh.

bamamama · 15/05/2007 19:43

I remember as a child getting up before dawn so that I could recite numbers up to 100 for my parents. It's only since I've had ds that my memory has clarified and I see the bored-to-death fixed grins of mommy & daddy dearest...

Carmenere · 15/05/2007 19:47

I am currently wearing a beoooutiiful matching pasta and bead necklace and bracelet combo, which is as interactive as my parenting is getting atm

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/05/2007 19:48

Ah you see Paula, my dd is 23 months and loves to watch me hoover.
She is also going through an endearing phase of shouting 'Well done mummy!' whenever I, say, flush the toilet or open the fridge. I haven't had this much positive feedback in years.

I have the joys of 'Watch, mummy, watch!' still to come.

LoveMyGirls · 15/05/2007 19:53

you hoover the skirting boards?

paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 19:53

Don't you love it when they praise you for those mundane tasks

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/05/2007 19:57

LOL Lovemygirls.

Well of course Paula, when you are 6 inches high flushing the toilet or opening the fridge is far from mundane

paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 20:01

I know but its so sweet that they want to cheer us on

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/05/2007 20:05

Yes it's lovely

Londonmamma · 15/05/2007 20:06

I love the idea of us all insisting our DC watch us complete every mundane household task.
'WELL DONE MUMMY!' ringing out across the land...

TwigtheMaternityNurse · 16/05/2007 11:57

I have just had to watch DD jump

it was actually very good

'Where did you learn that?'

'my teacher taught me, she said I was very good'

DD does not go to school she's with me all the time

macmama73 · 16/05/2007 12:14

Just watched DD doing a cartwheel. This involved her putting one leg in the air and jumping up and down. Wonderful, honey, very good.

Might get a parrot.

Squaaaak! Wow, well done, squaak, great, fab, good girl, squaaaak, fabulous, great, squaaaaak!

powder28 · 16/05/2007 12:32

LOL @ 'I don't wanna watch though .. I want to talk to my imaginary friends on the 'puter'

OrmIrian · 16/05/2007 12:39

"Mummy come and see me do this".
Me; "Hmmm in a minute..."
"Mummy now! Please. It's really cool"
Me: "OK"
Delay whilst child tries to repeat amazing feat of whatever it was.
Me: "That's very good."
"No that wasn't it! I can't do it now. When I did it before it was really coooool. Hang on..."

Five mins later I try to escape.

"Mummy don't gooooo..."

OrmIrian · 16/05/2007 12:41

Have to add that DS~1 tried to teach me to play pool the other day. After we'd finished he said:

"You did quite well mummy, for a beginner"

When we saw DH later he asked DS how I'd got on and he told him I was rubbish whilst sharing a manly laugh....

JoolsToo · 16/05/2007 12:43

jump on the couch?!

tsk!

TwigtheMaternityNurse · 16/05/2007 13:29

have you taken those plastic protectors off your couch yet Jools?
