To ask why your three year old is having a tantrum today.

4am DD needed a wee (fair enough). Clearly she woke from a deep sleep as she was unusually grumpy and we ended up with a tantrum & tears “because she has tears”. Obviously, she was her usual happy bouncy self once she was allowed in our bed....I’m a sucker for that one every time. Please regale me with your three year old’s utterly illogical tantrums so that I know I’m not the only one!

These threads were an absolute lifeline to me last year when DS was 3. And 4. He’s almost 5 now and big tantrums have pretty much stopped but it’s so sweet to look back on (it bloody wasn’t at the time Hmm).

I’ll be back on one of these next year when my twins get to 3 but for now thank you for all having hilarious and adorable children!

Chattycat78 · 03/05/2018 14:26

My 3 year old wants to be naked all day...requests to put on clothes are met with scorn. Earlier today, he had a massive meltdown at being forced to put on clothes to leave the house. How unreasonable.
Sigh.

Thebewilderbeest · 03/05/2018 14:28

Because it's not her birthday today.

whiteonesugar · 03/05/2018 14:38

We get a lot of 'My crying isn't going away' 'I am not tired I am hungry!' 'I'm not hungry for toast, I want a lollipop' 'you're not my best friend, daddy/mummy/grandad/ the cat is my best friend' 'I cant breathe' (with dramatic fake breathlessness)

Sigh.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 03/05/2018 14:38

Dd was cracking up when we went out and turned right out of the gate. "NO NOT GOING TO NURSERY, WE GOING ON HOLIDAY".

I had just been saying to her twin that its a school holiday tomorrow and monday so no nursery.

mumofmunchkin · 03/05/2018 14:44

Because I couldn't immediately supply a stick of the correct size.

Because I wouldn't turn the car around when we were halfway to the childminder to pick up the half eaten slice of toast he told me he had finished just before we left the house.

dontquotemeondailymail · 03/05/2018 14:45

He wanted his green coat on
(he doesn't have one)

He wanted daddy to pick him up - without touching him in any way whatsoever

He didn't want to go to nursery
He didn't want any of the other nursery kids to be there without him

feelinggoodinspring · 03/05/2018 14:48

Because I put his cup on the table

This kid cracks me up Grin

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 03/05/2018 14:57

Because I said her birthday was in July.
Because I wouldn't let her wear one Welly and one shoe to walk to school.
Because I told her not to lick the dog.and the floor.and the washing machine.
Because she wanted to sit on my knee-but I wasn't allowed to actually sit down.
It's been a long day and as soon as ds gets in from school it will begin again.

Chattycat78 · 03/05/2018 15:00

Yes....a loooonnnnnggg day.i m about to get my 22 month out of bed too and then the fighting begins....

i assume it’s not acceptable to open wine yet?!Grin

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 03/05/2018 15:04

Mine’s 4.
Because she wanted toast and then I MADE HER TOAST. Because she wanted Peppa Pig on the iPad but I meanly took the iPad from her in order to find Peppa Pig. Like she asked me to.

GrumpySausage · 03/05/2018 16:11

i wouldn't make the blackbird leave the garden when had the audacity to be perched on his bike. Blackbird is now very much an enemy and I'm clearly in cahoots with it for not banishing it for ever more.

This made me really giggle 😀😀

Applejack70455 · 03/05/2018 16:14

Because I went up the stairs before her so she wasn't the winner

Acorncat · 03/05/2018 16:20

Because he made a friend at soft play who then left after 10 minutes of playing. Huge tears, “want to go home” and “I miss my best friend” Hmm. Ask a couple of times if he’s sure he wants to leave, yes definitely. Get to car, start reversing and big tears again... “I want to go back”😭. On repeat for the half hour drive home. Bloody exhausting!

BabloHoney · 03/05/2018 16:23

Because he wanted a drink in the Lightning McQueen cup, but not that Lightning McQueen cup (ie one of the 3 we have) - a different one.

Also, reasons for not eating his dinner this week..

  1. This spaghetti is too long.
  2. But the peas are my friends.
  3. Your cooking is disgusting
Hmm
recoveringmummy · 03/05/2018 16:36

Because I wouldn't let him eat the wax from his baby bel!

Because I gave him his juice.

Because I took the juice away.

Idontknowwhatithink · 03/05/2018 16:57

Because I asked DD to

clean her teeth
get dressed
let me brush her hair
get ready so we can go out and have fun
stop pushing her 18 month old sister off my lap so she can climb on
because I wouldn't let her eat nuttella from the jar
because her milk was too hot
because her milk was too cold

each one was a separate meltdown :(

Oneandoneontheway · 03/05/2018 17:06

Because his hula hoops were wet once in put them in his mouth. FML

Oneandoneontheway · 03/05/2018 17:07

**once he put them in his mouth

Lauraandbump2 · 03/05/2018 17:08

A ballpit ball wouldn't fit inside the stacking cup.

He doesn't like dinner. Only yogurt and chocolate.

holycityzoo · 03/05/2018 17:14

He has meat in his teeth.
His brother gave him plastic knife and fork when he wanted grown up ones.
He didn't want the strawberries only the watermelon as he only likes red things?!

YouTheCat · 03/05/2018 17:19

Mine's 23. She had tears because she saw a picture of a tiny kitten in a hat. Grin

MooPointCowsOpinion · 03/05/2018 18:24

Because I buckled her seat belt to drive home. She said shes not coming home and she’s going to her granny’s house, but she doesn’t have a granny so I don’t know what she’s on about...!

kezzy13 · 03/05/2018 18:36

Today...

He didn't want to wear the clothes I picked out (after being repeatedly told to choose his own)

He didn't want to go to nursery
He didn't want to stay at home
He didn't want to go out anywhere

He wanted a snack
But not that snack

Thank god it's bedtime soon Smile

Vibrola · 07/05/2018 20:30

Not too bad today.

A bug landed on her table when she was eating outside. Then her dinner was too messy.

Because her brother wanted a cuddle too.

I wouldn't stop eating my lunch to make her a second lunch immediately.

Also a couple which were fair enough - big brother took a toy away from her and evil me made her come in from the sunny garden and go to bed (at bedtime).
