RE Dog Shit

cjferg · 02/05/2018 16:01

Neighbours have a dog they let shit in the shared garden and don't bother picking it up. Going out to hang up washing now the weather is a bit nicer and fed up stepping in it. Nobody else really uses garden that i've seen except to go out for fags.

Just stuck a note asking them to please pick up their dog's shit to the close door. I don't know which flat they live in so I can't chap on their door.

If I knew which flat I might pick it up myself and put it on the doormat...

Report to the dog warden.

cjferg · 02/05/2018 16:04

I was thinking of reporting to housing association, didn't know a dog warden existed.

Is there anyone responsible for the shared garden you could speak to? That’s fucking disgusting!
Also the council, since it’s anti social behaviour.

Eifla · 02/05/2018 16:35

Vile that someone even lets a dog toilet in a shared garden, nevermind not picking up.

(said as a flat dwelling dog owner)

cjferg · 02/05/2018 17:17

Smeddum My housing association have just managed to get everyone in the close to pay towards garden maintenance. They came for the first time last week and just strimmed over the shit... Unfortunately not all the flats belong to HA.

Eifla Glad to know this isn't normal behaviour!

OP posts:
Smeddum · 02/05/2018 17:21

@cjferg can you report it directly to the HA? As a formal complaint, in writing. If the dog owners are tenants then they can do something about it. If not they could refuse them access to the shared garden, surely?

ColonelCakes · 02/05/2018 17:22

My dear old mum used to make jolly flags saying on kebab sticks and put them in each poo.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 02/05/2018 17:24

Do they even allow dogs in your close?

cjferg · 02/05/2018 17:55

Smeddum They aren't with the HA as far as I know, but I think I could still tell the HA...

ColonelCakes I'm sure there was a campaign somewhere where people sprayed all of them pink with paint

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks Yea, it's not all owned by any particular organisation.

Ok, first of all, it's not the dog's fault - it's the owners. I'm not implying you think it is the dog's fault - just saying.

This is not ok. Dog owners (of which I am one) should, and I believe are required to pick up their dogs shit in public or communal areas. It is obviously unpleasant to have to step in/on/around dog shit when you're hanging your washing out. Try to establish whose dog it is, have a word, if they are not receptive then just go straight to the dog warden (council)

Smeddum · 02/05/2018 18:09

@cjferg I would, it could be that the shared garden is HA controlled. It’s also very antisocial behaviour as well as being really fucking rude and inconsiderate.

mummy2three2014 · 02/05/2018 18:18

I feel your pain we live in a mid terrace and access to our back garden with bikes ect is round through our neighbors garden, full of dog mess and normally with quite a barking jumpy dog too we now just trail bikes through the house ! This will be our first summer in this house and I am already dreading the smell when the sun finally comes Angry

cjferg · 03/05/2018 17:54

I know it's not the dog's fault (lovely, friendly wee staffie)

They left a really passive aggressive note on my note saying they pick it up 'every other day or at least at the end of every week' and nobody has had a problem with that before, although the people that lived in my flat before had kids and there were loads of toys and a trampoline in the garden so I fail to see how they'd be ok with them running round a garden of shit.
Still really lazy IMO.
DH says he knows which flat they live in so should maybe just go up and speak to them.

Dirty fuckers. Pick it up as soon as the dog has done it, especially in a shared garden! Sometimes I don’t do a shit patrol until late afternoon but it’s done daily! Mostly because I don’t want a garden full of shite.

FrancisUnderwood · 03/05/2018 17:59

Yet again. Fucking irresponsible shit-machine owners.

hannah1992 · 03/05/2018 17:59

Dog crap really gets my back up. Owners should pick it up redaardless of where they do it. Near me there’s a huge field with a wood behind it and I’m sure the owners think it’s fine to leave it. Some even pick it up then chuck the bag!

Twice I’ve found it right outside my front gate.

In regards to your situation, I would call out environmental health. They may be able to investigate and find out who dog it is. You could also be a curtain twitcher for a bit to see if you can see who’s dog it is. It is disgusting, it stinks, is a health hazard and attracts rats.

Coralcolouredchrome · 03/05/2018 18:33

Dirty filthy bastards. I own dogs, and pick their shit up as soon as they do it, and I never take them out anywhere without a pocket full of shit bags..... Oh, and I never leave full bags hanging from a tree, what the chuffin hell is that all about.???

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 03/05/2018 19:13

Really not ok - I live in a flat with a communal garden and follow my dog around the back garden so I can pick up after him the moment he's finished doing to the toilet.

Jaynesworld · 03/05/2018 19:28

Put at the bottom of their note saying you should pick up your dogs shit straight away, not leave it for days. Its a shared garden, be more considerate of your neighbours.

Jaynesworld · 03/05/2018 19:31

Take a photo of the note with what they have written and send it to the HA. They have admitted to leaving dog crap in the garden for a week.

specialsubject · 03/05/2018 19:47

people who dont want to spend a decade picking up excreta should not get a dog. bag it up and put through their letterbox.

Queenio24 · 03/05/2018 19:57

Write another note back saying... yes that's the problem, you are are only picking it up every other day!! Dirty gits
