Have we become so sensitive that everything offends someone???

Honestly, at what point do we say enough is enough? We can’t find someone attractive without worrying about their emotions of how they feel about being looked at. If someone is hot, then why cant we say without fear of objectifying them? Not in a creepy way, just in a did you see so and so on tv programme way. On the other hand we can’t find someone unattractive without being told we are not in line with political correctness. People aren’t obese they are happy within their bodies, same as anorexic, it somehow can’t be discussed as it’s just rude, body shaming. Why can’t we just be honest and be able to admit who we find attractive or not and why?

Why is it difficult not to comment on others appearances?

mzcracker · 02/05/2018 09:30

I know op why can't we just catcall people on the street and tell them how hot we think they are or tell people they are disgustingly fat without worrying about pesky things like feelings!
Hmm

IIIustriousIyIllogical · 02/05/2018 09:31

In a word, yes. People almost look for chances to be offended about something.

You've even managed to offend people with the shallowness of your OP, proving your point nicely!

IIIustriousIyIllogical · 02/05/2018 09:32

or tell people they are disgustingly fat

Maybe if fat people felt ashamed, they would do something about it?

It's telling that the nation is getting more & more obese but "fat shaming" (or daring to mention it in other words) is looked down on....

CheeseyToast · 02/05/2018 10:13

Gosh yes illustrously that'll do it. Let's go back to shaming everyone for daring to not be size 8, white and blonde. Terrific plan 🤔

Yes

The young are locked in a cycle of non playformong and snow flackery

I don't know what world you're living in @IIIustriousIyIllogical but people with weight issues are shamed daily.
You only need to look at the diet and fitness industry to see that people are doing something about it ..desperately so.

And no I don't think people are too sensitive at all. I think we've become a lot better at calling out dickish behaviour.

SerPants · 02/05/2018 11:28

I agree OP. I also find some of the people who proclaim their own tolerance are actually the most intolerant of anyone with a different point of view.

Of course no-one should set out to be deliberately nasty, but having to walk on eggshells isn't ideal either.

I think people bleat & whine for the sake of it to be honest.

These forums are a prime example!! Full of snowflakes who get offended over every little thing, whilst having to think up convoluted ways to be nasty to people indirectly so that MN don't delete their posts.

Hence all the PA, snidey comments you see on here when a simple "Oh do Fuck Off!" would suffice........
