To want to be able to buy size 8 school shoes for my daughter

So... we need help. School policy says lace up or t bar. Low heel. No patent.

DD age 12 has outgrown her size 41 Angry Angels Runway. What do we do now?

Clarks and Russell and Bromley go up to a 9 for girls (My dd has been a size 9 since she was 13).
Her current school shoes are a rather nice buckle style (not tbar though so no good for you) of Doc Martens which I picked up for £30 in TKMaxx - always a good idea to keep an eye on their men's shoes if you have one near you as they often have good quality Italian shoes which are a bit narrower than normal and fit my daughter well.

SilverHairedCat · 01/05/2018 17:27

www.clarksoutlet.co.uk/c/womens-shoe-sale and put laces on the sham front?

GlitterGlue · 01/05/2018 17:28

Clark’s sell them up to size nine. Not cheap though.

Stephisaur · 01/05/2018 17:30

Ahh I remember this issue well...

Next have an excellent selection of appropriate shoes. New look are a good fit too, she might get away with brogues?

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/05/2018 17:31

Those ASOS brogues are nice.

Theresahairbrushinthefridge · 01/05/2018 17:40

ASOS brogues ordered. Even do wide - which is why I think she has had to go up the sizes. 4 to try coming tomorrow. Genius of Mumsnet.

Last two pairs of Clark's shoes I bought her the soles actually fell off after a week and then a month!

The longest lasting brogues my dd had we're actually from shoe zone amazingly!

applesisapple5 · 01/05/2018 18:04

The Clarks ones fell apart? Take them back, they need to be fit for purpose, and surely last at least 6 months!
If she's quite heavy on her feet then DMs are a good buy, they do last.
I'm a size 8 and the great thing is that it's right at the top range of 'standard' women's sizes, and you get loads in the sales.

ThistleAmore · 01/05/2018 18:26

As somebody who wore an adult size 8 (now a size 9/10, fully grown at 39, hopefully!), by the time I was 15, I feel for you.

I had enormous, narrow feet, with very slim ankles, calves, and high arches, and the only (non-sports) shoes I could wear were 9-hole DMs.

Would those work?

If it's any consolation, my lower back and core are both in great nick and I don't have bunions, by dint of spending my life in 'sensible' shoes.

I am also very stable in high winds. ;)

TotHappy · 01/05/2018 18:32

Ohhh I was a size 8 at 14, nightmare in secondary shoes to find some that fit, now a 5 or 6 as an adult Confused shoes make no sense... Hope the ones you've ordered fit

goyuckfourself · 01/05/2018 18:45

Kickers kick lo if you can get your dd to wear them.

Otherwise would doctor martens shoes pass the school uniform test?

LockedOutOfMN · 01/05/2018 18:53

Possibly M and S?

ShowOfHands · 01/05/2018 18:59

DD wears Doc Marten Mary Janes.

Tryagaintomorrow · 01/05/2018 20:09

I have big feet too
Off the top of my head You can buy size 9s from
Dorothy Perkins
Top shop
Next
Evans
Asos
Clark’s
Office
River island
New look

Obviously not in store

She’s lucky, when I was at school the choice was boy shoes or trans websites Grin

Theresahairbrushinthefridge · 02/05/2018 17:50

ASOS arrived today. Much more pointy than they look on the website and don't fit.

Managed to get wide size 8 different style Angry angels.

Will def try DM or kickers next time.

I did take back the Clarks twice but didn't want to buy from there again. Also has issues with insisting that shoes fitted my younger DD when they were giving her blisters on her little toes.

Start rite definitely has lace up brogues I considered getting myself a pair when looking for DTs!

niccyb · 02/05/2018 18:21

I know exactly where you are coming from. My daughter is also a size 8 and although there are shoes we can buy in her size or Dr Martens, kickers, Geox due to her shoe size, many make her feet look even bigger than they are and then she gets a complex about it!
