To not want to listen to people moaning....

Bumble1830 · 30/04/2018 22:47

All the time. I'm actually starting to think that people don't know how to talk unless its to moan (Just to confirm, I am NOT moaning, I am just pointing out an observation Grin Wink ) Lets all talk about something that makes you happy... I'll start....Hiding the last mini mars bar from the kids so I can have it all to myself, and not even feeling guilty about it Smile

I'm a glass half empty, intolerant moaner I admit it, I'm always irritated and pissed off about something! So on the plus side here are some little things that make me all warm inside:

Fresh bed sheets!
The first page of a new pad (only stationery lovers will understand!)
The smell of fresh coffee - for some reason it reminds me of airports or train stations... i.e. going on holiday
Wearing a new outfit
That feeling when all housework, washing and ironing is done
Wine!

Bumble1830 · 30/04/2018 23:04

GeordieGirl I love a new pad, I never thought of that, I used to love buying new stationary for the start of the new school term, Oh, i miss those days Sad

I used to go into Stationery Box with a tenner and literally spend hours in there. Nobody was allowed to use my erasers though, obviously they were only for show 🙈

Bumble1830 · 30/04/2018 23:09

GeordieGirl Oh of course, as were the posh pens, I would always keep them for best Smile

I’m with you. Bloody moaners at work drive me INSANE. All day, every day, just fuck off and get another job! Then they sit and moan all through lunch. Phew. Glad I got that particular moan off my chest!
Anyway! Something that makes me happy.
Un boxing of any new clothes which the postie brings to my door.
I’ll second clean sheets and I’m partial to a bit of stationery too.
Coming home after the cleaners have been which is usually a Friday and means that the teenagers have gone out too leaving me with peace, quiet a tidy house and a G&T.
Waking up early but not having to get up for anything (then lying in bed MNing and wasting the morning Grin)

IHaveACuntingPlan · 30/04/2018 23:13

Opening a new jar of chocolate spread and popping the foil with the knife makes my day.

BlueTrousers · 30/04/2018 23:19

I agree people just communicate through the medium of moaning, I’ve noticed that people who are positive are often regarded as ‘smug’ and people who say nice things about their kids are ‘performance parents’ it’s sad really

It was actually my New Years resolution to be more positive and I must say forcing myself to be positive and faking it sometimes is having such an impact on how I feel generally, I feel liberated

Anyway something that makes me happy - taking my bra off when we shut the house down for the night, is that not just the best feeling Grin

Teaandbiscuits35 · 30/04/2018 23:25

Annoys me too. I'm sure it's in some people's nature.
Not setting an alarm makes me happy (even though DS will undoubtedly be climbing on me by 6am).
Getting into work and realising my boss is off.
Eating a whole meal, all by myself, uninterrupted.
How my standards of happiness have lowered 😂😢😂

KriticalSoul · 30/04/2018 23:31

driving on sunny days
hugging my kids (or being hugged by them voluntarily, those are getting rarer)
the sound of rain on the car roof
sitting by the sea and just listening to it.
the smell of a new book.
waking up of my own accord!!
getting into clean sheet in clean pjs!

Ski40 · 30/04/2018 23:34

Sleeping more than 4 hours uninterrupted is like nirvana to me.
A huge creamy coffee or a glass of Baileys.
Christmas.
My mad puppy cockapoo.
When my children present me with a drawing of us holding hands covered in lovehearts.
The way back home from the school run as I'm quite rural and I get to walk past fields with sheep and lambs, picturesque houses and churches, chickens, squirrels, and I get to watch the seasons change in the village's beautiful gardens. It recharges me after a night of (average) 3 hours sleep and the hideous battle to get 3 kids out of the door in time.
A videocall from any of my family abroad as I miss them so much.
Rain. I find it exhilarating.
A good book. A good ghost film.

WhatLineyDidNext · 30/04/2018 23:37

I lived next door to a woman who would actually cry - proper cry - if the other neighbour left her bin bags too close to her wall on collection day.

Crying neighbour was a council social worker.

I guess her job killed her sunny disposition stone dead somehow. I tried to cheer her up but it was hard going. Her husband was odd.

HotSauceCommittee · 30/04/2018 23:38

I’m afraid I’m a moaner. I love my job (public sector), but due to lack of resources, we are unable to give the level of service required to the people we serve. I’m lucky really, but sometimes, I’m embarrassed to put my name to what we do (too little, too late). I know I wouldn’t get another job as interesting outside of the organisation, so I’m looking for one within, but I’ve had a couple of knock backs Blush

Lotsofhappysmiles · 30/04/2018 23:38

Coming back home after a holiday to a lovely tidy house with clean sheets on the bed.

Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine on a sunny day.

Having tea and toast in bed at the weekend.

Bumble1830 · 30/04/2018 23:41

Ahhhh, taking your bra off is bliss.
Anything that my kids do makes me happy too

whatlineydidnext how very odd, some people really need to put things in to perspective

That feeling when all housework, washing and ironing is done

This is a thing?! Certainly not one I've ever experienced!! Grin

I found when I was teaching in my last school, there was no end of bloody moaning. Now I no longer teach and my life is much lighter! Nobody to moan about the dishwasher, the photocopier, the head teacher, the colour of the walls, the......you get the picture!

Bumble1830 · 30/04/2018 23:45

hotsaucecommitee there's nothing wrong in having a moan, if you need to rant, carry on, it's just the ones who moan about everything all the time, just for the sake of moaning.

This season I’ve loved watching Britain’s got talent with my children. Not been old enough for a family show before, but it’s been brilliant watching them react to different acts, and have that shared experience.
And yes clean sheets, cosy blankets, warm socks!

HotSauceCommittee · 30/04/2018 23:54

Aww thank you Bumble.

leggere · 30/04/2018 23:59

Bit cheesy, this one.Wink Knowing my dh loves me, no matter what! (cos I look a bloody mess lately)

MellowMelly · 01/05/2018 00:02

My ex partner was a regular Victor Meldrew/ Karl Pilkington (The Moaning of Life) type guy. I’m pretty damn happy most of the time but my god did he rain on my parade as much as possible. Apparently I didn’t even hold a hose ‘right’ when I was washing down the car?? Hmm
My bliss is now the peace and quiet because he is now my ex and I don’t have to listen to that crap anymore.

leggere · 02/05/2018 09:52

One of the worst places for being moaned at is public transport. I'm sure some people go on buses just for a moan! I often try to change the subject to something positive/pleasant but to no avail. Start off the day feeling quite positive, get into town feeling all negative then have to buoy myself up again. Sod off moaners, we've all got problems! Stop dragging people down!

MargoLovebutter · 02/05/2018 09:53

Bumble1830 - forgive me, but aren't you moaning in this thread about moaners?! Grin

sugarr · 02/05/2018 09:58

Freshly shaven legs, on clean bed linen.
Opening a brand new perfume.
The smell of freshly cut grass.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/05/2018 10:01

Reasons to be cheerful:

It is sunny here in Scotland today. This is a rare occurrence and should be celebrated.

I managed to get up early this morning, so have plenty of day ahead of me to do stuff.

However - the reason I was up early was that the dog has a recurrent tummy problem (the runs) and got me up in the middle of the night and then first thing this morning. And I have had to collect samples (boak) so the vet can test to see what might be causing it. Fingers (and paws) crossed it will be something treatable, and we won't have to have scans and x-rays to find out if there is something more serious going on.
