I want to quit!

I started a new job a few weeks ago and I really do not like it.

I feel so guilty as the people are so nice. But it’s a career change and now I’m thinking it really isn’t ‘me’.

I had to get a new job quickly as my old workplace closed, and I couldn’t find another job similar to my old one in my area. I was offered a job very similar, but it was a 2 hour commute and I couldn’t do that. I therefore went for something with similar skill requirements but more stable. But this job doesn’t be include the things that really motivated me and have me pride in my work.

I don’t know what to do... I feel it would be really crappy of me to quit the job as everyone has been so nice. Does anyone have any advice?

Find another job first and quit. Life's miles too short for shitty jobs.

Give it at least 6 months.

If the people are nice that's worth staying for.

I've changed jobs but I have the opposite problem, people are awful with a toxic culture but I like the actual job I do.

Look for something more suitable, but stay employed there in the meantime. It's easier to find another job if you're already employed. Then give your contractual notice. You can explain that although everyone is very nice, it's not quite what you expected. I'm sure they wouldn't want to waste either your time or theirs if you aren't happy

I agree with the advice to find something else before you give this one up.

Also, have you talked to your line manager about how you feel? It's difficult to advise without knowing what the role is, but might there be a possibility of taking on different responsibilities which you find more challenging/motivating? If you don't feel able to speak to your LM, what about a colleague, as you say everyone is nice? They might be able to give you a different perspective on the role, at least sufficiently to make it tolerable until you can find something else.

A final thought is that, personally, given the choice between an interesting job with horrible colleagues, and a boring job with nice colleagues, I would probably take the latter assuming pay and benefits were equal.

you owe them nothing, they may be nice but it's your life, your health, your mind and your time! if you aren't happy leave BUT find a new job first if you can better to be in work and work

If you died tomorrow you'd be replaced next week. I wouldn't give it much thought.
