Seeing as aibu gets lots of comments I shall try here!

Has anyone ever had any contact or work with scallywags modelling agency?

If so ...

What are there fees if any? Memberships etc
did the person actually get jobs?
Is it worth it?

I don't know much about them and website doesn't really help, if anyone has had experience with them would be great to find out.

I don't know them but any agency asking you to pay is not real that is a well known scam

LolitaLempicka · 30/04/2018 18:51

If there are fees it’s a scam, they pay you not the other way round. These scams just use people’s vanity, as everyone thinks they have the cutest offspring.

Scallywags are a legit agency but charge higher fees, have lots of children on the books (high internal competition) and don't get many high end briefs.

Many legit and highly regarded modelling agencies do charge an annual fee (around £80) which tends to cover your child's details and photos on their site. Bonny&Betty, Boss etc. It is not true to say that if you have to pay it's a scam.

The scams the previous posters refer to are modelling platforms, they charge thousands for a 'portfolio' and then promise work which won't materialise.

There are many Facebook pages for parents of children who are looking to get into modelling. Search 'Parents of child models' on FB

Portfolio ‘fees’ would come out of your earnings in a reputable company surely?

MrsICantSayMyName · 01/05/2018 09:49

Tried bonny and Betty books always shut on the books, takes ages too reply etc that's what I thought about paying it says 20 a month or 100 for the year. That made me Hmm about it. Thanks for the replies will keep looking.

Boss models is legit, my stepson has done quite a lot of work for them. It's very regulated, he has to have some kind of work permit from the local council.

MrsICantSayMyName · 01/05/2018 10:50

Think that is too far away

I looked into this a long time back, but ended up reporting the agencies in question, both allegedly legit, to DWP because they are employment agencies and are not legally allowed to charge a registration fee.

They may take a percentage of the earnings, as any agent does, but a sign-up fee is not legal. Just because they get away with it and still try it on, doesn't make it right.
